We are seeking an experienced, client-focused, and technology-driven Director to join our growing Family Office practice. This individual will lead the delivery of comprehensive accounting, financial, and administrative services to high-net-worth individuals and family office clients, while managing a team and contributing to the growth of the practice.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience with platforms such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite, and possesses the curiosity and drive to embrace next-generation tools — including AI-enabled platforms like Asseta.ai, BILL, and third-party integrations spanning payroll, sales tax, and beyond — as part of a forward-thinking, tech-driven service model.
Client Service & Delivery
- Oversee accounting and reporting, financial management and advisory services for family office clients with complex financial structures including partnerships, trusts, and investment entities.
- Review and analyze financial statements, general ledger activity, cash flow projections and budgets and reporting packages.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring high-quality service and responsiveness.
- Coordinate with tax, advisory and other service lines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Oversee onboarding of new clients and ensure seamless implementation processes, including configuration and adoption of technology platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and NetSuite, with openness to deploying emerging tools like Asseta.ai, BILL, and integrated third-party solutions for payroll, sales tax, and related functions as part of the firm’s evolving tech stack.
- Provide strategic financial guidance and operational support to clients and their advisors.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers, seniors, and staff.
- Review work product and ensure quality control across engagements.
- Provide training and guidance on technical accounting matters, including adoption of AI-assisted workflows, automation tools, and cloud-based platforms.
- Assist with resource planning and workflow management, leveraging digital project management and automation tools to optimize team capacity and engagement delivery.
- Foster a collaborative, client-focused culture within the Family Office Services practice.
- Support staff development through coaching, performance feedback, and career mentoring.
Business Development & Practice Growth
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts.
- Participate in business development initiatives, networking, and thought leadership activities.
- Support proposals, presentations, and meetings with prospective clients.
- Assist practice leadership with strategic growth initiatives and market expansion efforts.
Technical Expertise
- Apply strong knowledge of GAAP, partnership accounting, and investment accounting and knowledge of taxes
- Oversee accounting for investments and alternative investments, including private equity, hedge funds, and real estate.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal firm policies.
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting family offices and high-net-worth clients.
- Review complex reconciliations, consolidations, and multi-entity financial reporting structures.
- Evaluate and implement accounting software and workflow tools within the Family Office Services practice, leveraging deep knowledge of platforms such as Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online, and NetSuite while actively exploring and adopting emerging solutions — including AI-driven asset management platforms (e.g., Asseta.ai), AP/AR automation tools (e.g., BILL), and third-party integrations for payroll, sales tax, and other operational functions — to advance the firm’s digital capabilities.
Technology & Innovation
- Serve as a champion for the firm’s AI-driven service delivery model, actively participating in the evolution of PKF O’Connor Davies’ technology strategy for family office and wealth management clients.
- Engage with and develop fluency in next-generation platforms such as Asseta.ai for real estate and investment asset tracking — an opportunity to help shape how PKF O’Connor Davies delivers cutting-edge family office services; prior Asseta.ai experience is a plus, not a prerequisite.
- Oversee AP/AR workflows using tools such as BILL and similar platforms, bringing a willingness to optimize and build best practices within the firm’s preferred tech stack for payment processing, vendor management, and approval workflows.
- Manage client environments across core accounting platforms including QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and NetSuite for multi-entity family office structures, ensuring data integrity, intercompany eliminations, and readiness to integrate with modern tools such as Asseta.ai, BILL, and third-party solutions for payroll, sales tax, and other operational needs as client requirements evolve.
- Identify and implement AI tools and automation to enhance reporting accuracy, reduce manual processing, and free staff capacity for higher-value advisory work.
- Stay current on emerging fintech solutions and proptech platforms relevant to family offices and CRE-focused clients, and contribute to PKF O’Connor Davies’ thought leadership in this space.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work in-office a minimum of 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required.
- Active CPA license required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or family office environment.
- Strong experience working with high-net-worth individuals and complex entities.
- Deep knowledge of partnership accounting, investments, and financial reporting.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines effectively.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage engagement teams and client relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within a CPA firm or advisory firm.
- Exposure to multi-entity family office structures.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and operational platforms common in the family office space, including Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online (QBO), NetSuite, and similar systems; familiarity with modern fintech tools such as Asseta.ai (investment and asset tracking) and BILL (AP/AR automation), as well as third-party integrations for payroll, sales tax, and related functions, is a plus.
- Experience coordinating with tax, legal, and investment advisors.
- Background in family office operations, wealth management, or outsourced accounting services, with demonstrated comfort operating within a tech-forward, AI-enhanced service delivery model.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in evaluating and adopting AI tools, automation workflows, and emerging fintech/proptech solutions in a client-facing accounting environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
The compensation for this position ranges from $100,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
