Job description Opportunity for a Medical Billing Manager at a leading, award-winning Eye Care practice in the heart of the Willamette Valley in Salem, Oregon. Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons is seeking a Full-Time Medical Billing Manager to provide supervisory oversight and management of all facets of the billing department including claims processing, revenue monitoring, and quality improvement initiatives. Works cooperatively with other managers and administration to ensure timely billing, reporting, and patient account management.
Key Responsibilities: (Not a complete job description)
- Manage a team of billing specialists and provide leadership and support as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing efficiency and accuracy and implement strategies to achieve these goals.
- Perform overall revenue management including satisfying timely filing requirements, maximizing billing revenue and collections, and resolving denied/rejected claims.
- Monitor monthly aging reports, conduct follow-up on unpaid claims, and take appropriate action to correct and re-bill for reimbursement.
- Monitor A/R aging and payment reports monthly to identify trends and underpayments; investigate causes and take appropriate steps toward resolution using professional judgment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Minimum Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience managing or supervising required, preferably in a medical billing environment.
- 5+ years of medical billing experience required.
- Optometry/ophthalmology billing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical coding, claims processing, payment posting, and revenue cycle management.
- Experience billing professional medical encounters and managing claim denials, appeals, and re-submissions.
- Demonstrated experience managing Accounts Receivable (A/R), including aging analysis, reporting, follow-up workflows, and reimbursement tracking.
- Medicare, commercial insurance, and VSP billing experience required.
- Strong understanding of EOBs, payer requirements, timely filing limits, and reimbursement methodologies.
- Experience using EHR/EMR systems is required.
- NextGen experience is strongly preferred, including navigation, billing workflows, reporting, and encounter management.
- Ability to analyze billing trends and identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with providers, management, and other departments to support operational and financial goals.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
