Position Summary:
Journeyman electricians are licensed non-master electricians who can independently work on high voltage power, and control systems of factories. They read blueprints and check electrical circuits to ensure the correct installation of electrical equipment and determine preventive procedures to maintain the electrical systems.
In the journeyman electrician role, you will perform electrical work and inspection of wiring, fixtures, outlets, conduits, trays and other electrical components. You will replace and repair electrical equipment and devices as required. The National Electrical Code and all other applicable standards and specifications are followed. This position is for the Grand Island and Hasting locations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safe work habits, and comply with Company safety requirements
- Working knowledge of construction, electrical work, systems, and troubleshooting
- Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes and OSHA/ MSHA safety standards. Enforce all national and local codes and keep up with any changes in the industry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Possess strong expertise in all aspects of trade related materials, components, equipment, systems, methods of installation, safety procedures, safe work practices, trade related calculations, blueprint and drawing interpretation, and trouble shooting.
- Able to dig trenches and excavations, either by use of hand tools or power equipment
- Able to safely operate two-handed tools/equipment such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jack hammers.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots faulty wiring.
- Runs tests on generators and other backup systems.
- Checks for and deploy upgrades of electrical components.
- Documents problems and prepares reports.
- Facilitates order of needed electrical components.
- Carrying standard equipment and parts with you at all times.
- Performing inspections, conducting assessments, and liaising with clients to ascertain the issues that warrant attention.
- Choosing the most apt course of action in light of project constraints.
- Selecting, installing, and preserving the functionality of wires, plugs, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards, and similar.
- Setting up and maintaining electrical machines.
- Properly care for material, tools and equipment.
- Represent E&T Electric, LLC professionally at all times.
- Effective communication, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Required to be on-call when necessary.
- Able to perform night/weekend work as required.
- Able to travel out of town and stay overnight as required.
- Teach, train, and guide electrical apprentices.
- Able to show up to work on time and on a daily basis.
- Commuting between the locations at which you will work.
- Able to work in local meat packing plant environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the meat packing plant.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
- Must be able to work some Saturdays/Sundays and at night, when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
