POSITION SUMMARY

PLEASE NOTE: This role is NOT for Embedded Systems or Programming. We are looking for hands-on Technical PCB Level Hardware Design Experience. If most of your experience is in Embedded Systems or Programming this role is not a good fit.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly creative engineer to contribute to the further development of a unique semiconductor technology and power electronics circuits. This position requires a hands-on individual with strong technical capabilities and problem-solving skills in power electronics circuit design to play a key role in the development, validation testing and commercialization of the Company’s low loss power switch driving technology. The right individual will be a self-starter with a robust power electronics background and a strong team player with the ability to comfortably work in a start-up environment and interact with technology development and commercialization partners.

Core Skills Requirements

• Highly proficient in gate driver design (PCB level). Deep understanding of the tradeoffs between different designs and industry prior art.
• Familiarity with DC/AC converter, inverter and solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) design
• Experienced and hands-on in power electronics and digital/analog circuit analysis, circuit simulations, PCB Design, prototype builds and validation test plans.
• Proficient in lab instruments and characterization of discrete power switch and module.
• General understanding of power device physics is required: IGBT, SiC, BJT, Power MOSFET, FRD.
• Prefer to have microcontroller coding skills and experience.
• Software skills: Altium, SPICE, C++ or Python.
• Dedicated and organized. Work with a sense of urgency to deliver design and test results to meet project timelines.
• Ph.D. in power electronics with 2+ years industry experience or M.S. with 3+ years industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, order and test PCB drivers for applications including converters, inverters and SSCBs.
• Support application engineers to interface with customers.
• Characterize discrete devices and power modules, generate datasheet information, and compare with industry counterparts.
• Develop and publish technical articles, white papers and other external-facing product presentations for customer and partner use.
• Direct and train technicians.

Note on Relocation Assistance:
For selected candidate relocating to Austin, TX - for the period of employment - from locations greater than 100 miles away, a one time reimbursement of a maximum of 15 days of temporary accommodation will be provided on actuals. This amount will be deducted from their full-and-final settlement amount if the employees chooses to leave before completion of one year of employment with the company.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
