AV Systems Designer / Design Engineer

SPARK Commercial AV is seeking an experienced AV Systems Designer / Design Engineer to join our growing team in Santa Barbara.

This role is responsible for designing commercial audiovisual and low-voltage technology systems including conference rooms, sound systems, digital signage, theatrical lighting, networking infrastructure, multipurpose rooms, and cellular enhancement systems. You'll work closely with clients, project managers, and installation teams to develop complete, buildable system designs from concept through project completion.

Responsibilities

• Design commercial AV and integrated technology systems
• Create signal flow diagrams, system drawings, rack elevations, and project documentation
• Develop equipment lists and bills of material using D-Tools
• Conduct site surveys and gather project requirements
• Review architectural and construction drawings
• Collaborate with sales, project management, and installation teams
• Support projects through commissioning and final handoff

QualificationsRequired

• 3+ years of commercial AV integration experience
• Experience with D-Tools
• Strong understanding of commercial AV systems and installation practices
• Ability to read architectural and construction drawings
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Valid driver's license

Preferred

• CTS or CTS-D certification
• AutoCAD experience
• Experience with Q-SYS, Biamp, Crestron, Extron, and Shure systems
• Networking knowledge including switches, VLANs, and wireless infrastructure
• Experience with theatrical lighting systems
• Previous experience as an AV installer, lead technician, commissioning technician, or field engineer
