We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Test Engineering Technician to support validation and verification activities within our engineering team. This role will focus primarily on the evaluation and testing of rechargeable battery packs and battery charging systems, including electrical performance, safety, environmental behavior, durability, and lifecycle characteristics.
The successful candidate will execute standardized test procedures, collect and organize engineering data, and generate structured documentation that supports product development, supplier alignment, and engineering decision-making. As business needs evolve, this individual may also be cross-trained to support testing and validation activities across a broader range of electronic hardware products.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute standardized internal test suites to support product development, verification, and validation activities.
- Configure test setups and operate laboratory equipment to capture electrical, thermal, and functional performance measurements.
- Perform electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental evaluations to characterize hardware behavior.
- Record, organize, and maintain test data, observations, and measurements in structured engineering documentation.
- Maintain traceability between test conditions, hardware configurations, collected data, and reported results.
- Support the safe handling and testing of batteries, chargers, and electronic hardware in accordance with laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
- Assist engineering teams with troubleshooting efforts, test setup refinement, and validation of design modifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, and supplier partners to support product development activities.
- Create product-focused technical content and documentation to support product release activities.
- Review technical documentation and supporting media for technical accuracy, clarity, and alignment with evaluated hardware.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving test methods, laboratory fixtures, documentation processes, and engineering workflows.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
- Hands-on experience supporting the testing and evaluation of electronic or electrical hardware products.
- Experience evaluating rechargeable batteries and battery charging systems using electrical, thermal, and functional test methods.
- Familiarity with rechargeable battery chemistries and charging technologies, including applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in setting up and operating laboratory test equipment, including:
- Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
- Oscilloscopes
- Power Supplies
- Electronic Loads
- Temperature Measurement Equipment
- Similar electrical test and measurement tools
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and electronic components.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and interpret test results with sound technical judgment.
Documentation & Analysis
- Experience executing test plans and standardized validation procedures in an engineering or product development environment.
- Ability to accurately document, organize, and present technical data in structured engineering reports.
- Experience contributing to technical documentation such as test reports, user guides, product specifications, or related materials.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, product management, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing lithium-ion battery systems and battery management technologies.
- Familiarity with environmental, reliability, and lifecycle testing methodologies.
- Experience working within product development, manufacturing, or quality engineering environments.
- Exposure to industry standards related to battery safety, transportation, or regulatory compliance.
