Senior Technical Project Manager – Aerospace Automation, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to lead complex aerospace automation, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and engineered equipment programs from concept through final delivery. This position is responsible for managing highly technical projects involving engineering, manufacturing, controls, software integration, suppliers, and customer stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has experience delivering automation systems, robotics, aerospace tooling, capital equipment, custom machinery, or advanced manufacturing programs through design, fabrication, integration, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical programs from requirements definition through design, manufacturing, integration, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, forecasts, and resource planning
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, controls, software, and external vendors
- Translate customer requirements into actionable project plans and deliverables
- Manage customer communications, expectations, scope changes, and commercial impacts
- Develop and maintain project schedules, status reports, risk registers, and executive updates
- Support design reviews, production readiness activities, integration planning, and commissioning efforts
- Collaborate with engineering and commercial teams during proposal development and project planning
- Ensure effective communication between customers, leadership, engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners
- Drive project execution while minimizing scope creep and maintaining alignment with project objectives
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and customer acceptance activities
- Coordinate supplier deliverables, equipment procurement, long-lead items, fabrication, assembly, and installation schedules
- Drive Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) execution across engineering, manufacturing, controls, software, suppliers, and customer milestones
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of experience managing complex technical projects or programs
- Experience within aerospace, automation, robotics, manufacturing, industrial equipment, custom machinery, capital equipment, tooling systems, or related industries
- Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of controls systems, PLCs, software integration, robotics, automated equipment, mechanical systems, or electrical systems
- Experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and customer deliverables
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive project execution without direct authority
- Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Primavera, or similar platforms
- Experience managing projects involving automation systems, robotics, aerospace tooling, custom machinery, manufacturing systems, or capital equipment
- Experience coordinating engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, controls, software integration, installation, and commissioning activities
- Experience supporting production deployment, commissioning, startup, FAT, SAT, or customer acceptance activities
- Experience managing supplier deliverables, procurement activities, and long-lead manufacturing components
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing automation, robotics, aerospace tooling, or advanced manufacturing projects
- PMP certification or formal project management training
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar technical programs
- Exposure to FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and production readiness activities
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation
- Supplier management and equipment procurement experience
- Experience working in highly regulated or precision manufacturing environments
- Aerospace OEM, aerospace supplier, robotics, automation, tooling, or advanced manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience supporting customer-site installation and commissioning activities
- Experience working in low-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments

Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
