As an Entry-Level Engineering Technologist, you will apply your technical skills to assist in designing and evaluating residential, commercial, and industrial projects. You will work closely with mentors and senior staff members to develop skills in client/customer design workflows, safety procedures, and project management tools. You will gain experience in electrical distribution system design, project preparation, and site visits, all while maintaining a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
As a Power Engineering Technologist, YOU will:
Adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times.
Apply relevant codes, regulations, and company procedures to tasks.
Assist in preparing project materials, estimates, and drawings.
Evaluate loading on distribution equipment like transformers.
Learn utility construction practices for public and private lands.
Support the creation of cost-effective, safe, and reliable electrical facility designs.
Visit job sites to ensure projects are on track and meet deadlines.
Maintain communication with supervisors to meet client expectations.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Keep organized records for each project.
Receive mentorship and training from experienced professionals.
Participate in storm restoration activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
YOU are the ideal Power Engineering Technologist candidate if you have:
High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred: Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., electrical engineering technology, construction management).
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in non-engineering science, math, or business.0-1 year(s) of experience in power distribution engineering, GIS/CAD work, or related fields.
Strong ability to follow instructions and apply safety standards.
Familiarity with design software and work management tools.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as manuals, operational procedures, and technical documents.
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts (algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages).Must possess a valid driver’s license and suitable vehicle for business use.
Pay: $21.00 per hour
