Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently perform venipuncture to collect blood specimens from patients.
Observe and collect urine specimens, including observed and supervised collections, following all protocol guidelines.
Properly identify patients before specimen collection, ensuring accuracy and compliance with departmental policies.
Label, document, and ship specimens accurately to the laboratory, maintaining specimen integrity.
Provide excellent customer service by interacting compassionately with patients, physicians, and staff.
Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population, answering questions and providing reassurance.
Follow all Universal Precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and confidentiality.
Maintain neat, clean, and organized work and patient areas.
Assist with processing and shipping of specimens, as well as managing office supplies during downtime.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience, demonstrating proficiency in blood draws.
Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service in a healthcare setting.
Reliable, punctual, and dedicated with a strong work ethic.
Strong computer skills, including managing multiple programs, managing email, and data entry.
Ability to perform accurate and fast data entry, with attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact confidently with patients and staff.
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience with urine drug screen collections, including observed collections.
Prior work in clinical laboratory or medical testing environments.
Familiarity with specimen processing and shipping procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in a clinical setting, working with diverse patient populations.
Other Requirements:
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 11:30 am, approximately 22.5 hours per week.
Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and performing bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant credentials are preferred but not mandatory.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are beneficial.
Confidentiality and professionalism are a must in this role.
