Position Overview
This role is ideal for a recent or upcoming college graduate looking to start a career in land development. The Graduate Engineer will support the Land Development Engineering team in the planning, design, and construction of residential subdivisions and site infrastructure while working under the mentorship of a licensed Professional Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and review of land development plans, including grading, stormwater management, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and roadway design
- Support permitting efforts with municipal, county, and state agencies, including PA DEP, PennDOT, and local municipalities
- Coordinate with surveyors, geotechnical consultants, architects, and civil engineering partners
- Work alongside land use attorneys on subdivision approvals, zoning hearings, and entitlement processes
- Collaborate with site contractors during construction, including attending meetings, reviewing submittals, and tracking project progress
- Assist in project budgeting, including quantity takeoffs, bid review, cost tracking, and change orders
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, document field conditions, and help resolve technical issues
- Review engineering studies, soils reports, and environmental data
- Support due diligence efforts for land acquisitions, including feasibility analysis and entitlement review
- Maintain organized project documentation, including permits, correspondence, and tracking logs
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required
- Engineer in Training certification preferred or ability to obtain shortly after hire
- Zero to three years of experience; internship or co-op experience in land development or site design is a plus
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software preferred
- Working knowledge of PA DEP and PennDOT standards is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for site visits
