About the Role
We're looking for a Game Operation Manager to own how our live games perform after launch. You'll define and execute operations strategy for games in production — events, player lifecycle, retention programs — analyze product performance to know what's working and why, and build out the operations platform that makes all of this repeatable instead of artisanal.
This is a data-driven operations role. You don't just schedule events; you decide which events to run based on what the numbers say, measure whether they worked, and feed the learning back into the next cycle. And because we're building our operations capability from the ground up, you'll have unusual leverage: the dashboards, tooling, and playbooks you establish become how the whole company runs games.
You'll collaborate daily with game producers, product managers, data engineers, and our offshore development teams.
What You'll Own
Live Operations Strategy & Execution
- Define operations strategy for live games — event calendars, player segmentation, retention and reactivation programs, and monetization pacing
- Plan and execute LiveOps events end to end: concept, configuration, QA, launch, monitoring, and post-event review
- Own go-live operations for new game content — launch checklists, day-one metric monitoring, and rapid response when something looks wrong
- Run parameter tuning cycles and A/B tests on live games; coordinate rollout decisions with producers and product managers
Product Performance Analysis
- Own the core metrics narrative for live games — DAU/MAU, retention curves, ARPU, LTV, session depth, conversion funnels
- Diagnose metric movements: when retention drops or revenue spikes, find the cause and translate it into actionable engineering or product tasks
- Produce regular performance reviews per title with clear recommendations — what to double down on, what to fix, what to sunset
- Define event tracking requirements with data engineers so the questions you'll ask next quarter are answerable
Operations Platform Buildout
- Define requirements for and drive the buildout of our game operations platform — operational dashboards, event configuration tooling, player segmentation tools, and alerting
- Write PRDs for operations tooling and work with engineers through delivery, prioritizing what removes the most manual work first
- Establish operational runbooks for recurring lifecycle events — new game onboarding, event execution, parameter tuning cycles, and content sunset procedures
- Document and standardize operations workflows so the function scales beyond one person
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- 3+ years in game operations, live operations, or product operations for a live online game — you have personally run events and lifecycle programs on a game in production
- Strong analytical skills — fluent with game metrics (DAU/MAU, retention, ARPU, LTV), comfortable working in data dashboards daily, and able to turn metric movements into decisions
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests and event-driven operations campaigns
- Can write clear requirements for tooling and dashboards, and work with engineers through delivery
- Proficient in JIRA and Confluence (or equivalent project and documentation tools)
- Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) — reading, writing, and verbal; all internal documentation and communication are conducted in Chinese
- Based in or willing to relocate to Irvine, CA
Strong Plus
- Experience building operations platforms or tooling from scratch — you've defined the dashboard rather than just consumed it
- Hands-on SQL or experience with game analytics platforms (Amplitude, ThinkingData, or similar)
- Player segmentation and CRM experience — tiered player programs, churn-risk targeting, reactivation campaigns
- Cross-timezone collaboration experience (especially US ↔ offshore teams)
- Experience taking over a live operation from a departing owner — structured handover, shadowing, and documentation
