You'll collaborate across teams to modernize infrastructure services, improve operational excellence, and enable business-critical technology solutions.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As a Staff Engineer I, you will serve as both an individual contributor and technical leader responsible for driving the development and execution of infrastructure platforms that deliver secure, reliable, and scalable services. You will leverage expertise across cloud technologies, automation, infrastructure engineering, and data-driven operations to design and deliver modern infrastructure solutions. This role requires strong technical leadership, collaboration across teams, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Platform & Solution Delivery
- Help design, build, and maintain public cloud and private infrastructure platforms supporting availability, orchestration, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of infrastructure environments.
- Develop infrastructure blueprints and engineer new solutions to meet evolving business and technical requirements.
- Embed security best practices throughout the infrastructure, application, and product lifecycle.
- Lead and oversee significant infrastructure and code changes.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the broader engineering organization.
- Define, promote, and implement effective engineering and development practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to deliver high-quality infrastructure services.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, stability, availability, and security across existing platforms and services.
- Drive improvements through automation, standardization, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Help establish, implement, and maintain corporate technology standards and engineering guidelines.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.
ABOUT YOU
Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in secure infrastructure frameworks and cloud security best practices.
- Demonstrated success applying automation across infrastructure and technical operations.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software delivery practices.
- Understanding of data visualization, data modeling, and compute scaling concepts.
- Experience working with one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and/or private datacenter environments.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, scripting, and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitHub Actions, PowerShell, and Python.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting production infrastructure solutions utilizing cloud and SaaS technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, deployment automation, and release management.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, and Prometheus.
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with identity and access management solutions such as Active Directory, Azure AD, Okta, or LDAP.
- Experience supporting or implementing cloud landing zone architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Generative AI technologies.
- Experience working with databases, data engineering, data science, or business intelligence platforms.
- Experience developing cloud platform and infrastructure automation using Go and/or Python.
- Experience with HashiCorp Cloud Platform technologies including Terraform and Vault.
Work Model
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence at least 1-2 days per week.
U.S. COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service and Bain’s best in class benefits package.
Some local governments in the United States require a good-faith, reasonable salary range to be included in job postings for open roles. The estimated annualized compensation for this role is as follows:
- In Georgia, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $128,000 - $153,750.
- In Texas, the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $134,500 - $161,500.
- In Illinois (Chicago), the good-faith, reasonable annualized full-time salary range for this role is between $141,000 - $169,250.
Placement within these ranges will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to experience, education, certifications, training, and skill level.
In addition:
- Annual discretionary performance bonus.
- This role may also be eligible for other elements of discretionary compensation.
- 4.5% 401(k) company contribution, which increases after three years of service and is 100% vested upon start date.
