Best-known for the vessel fleets it produces for the U.S. Armed Forces and allies around the globe, Metal Shark has expanded its focus to include state, local, and commercial operators across a wide range of markets. Today, the Louisiana-based company produces a wider range of specialty vessels than perhaps any comparable yard. Key markets served include fire rescue, law enforcement, military, passenger vessels, pilot boats, various workboat operators and other specialty operators.
Position Summary: As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design and develop calculations, workshop drawings and schematics for all mechanical systems on board the vessel; Ensure the drawings are technically accurate, BOM tables are accurate, and design is fully complete with all required details for production. Utilize 3D modeling during design to ensure components have proper space where they are intended to be installed; Ensure structural engineers have all required information to create foundations for all mechanical systems. As you are going through a mechanical design, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and documenting standard design configurations and procedures, as part of Metal Shark’s Continuous Process Improvement Effort.
