JOB SCOPE:

The Assistant Principal / IEP Case Manager serves as a key member of the school leadership team, providing instructional, operational, and compliance leadership within a therapeutic day school setting. This role supports students with significant social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs by ensuring high-quality, individualized educational programming and adherence to all special education requirements.

This role blends building-level administrative leadership with comprehensive oversight of special education case management, including IEP development, implementation, staff support and compliance to ensure program consistency. The Assistant Principal supports the Principal to ensure that all educational programming, therapeutic services, special education processes and operational practices are executed with fidelity and in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Illinois School Code, and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) regulations

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Administration, or a related field
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), including:
• LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) Endorsement

One of the following:

• Director of Special Education Endorsement
• General Administrative Endorsement
• School Principal Endorsement
• Supervisory Endorsement

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a therapeutic day school or specialized special education setting
• Experience serving as an IEP Case Manager and/or LEA Representative
• Teacher evaluator designation
• Strong background in compliance, instructional coaching, and data-driven decision-making
• Familiarity with CPS IEP systems (SSM) and Embrace

Job Responsibilities:

Special Education Compliance, IEP Oversight & Case Management

• Serve as IEP Case Manager in accordance with IDEA and ISBE requirements
• Assist with IEP preparation and documentation, including:
• Tracking compliance timelines and due dates
• Scheduling IEP, eligibility, and re-evaluation meetings
• Sending Notices of Conference
• Provide coaching and support to staff in IEP development and implementation
• Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements for parent notification and procedural safeguards
• Provide direct support to teachers during IEP writing and revision.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of IEP components, progress reports, amendments, and related documentation.
• Monitor classroom-level data collection and student progress, providing feedback to staff to support continuous improvement.

School Leadership & Day-to-Day Operations

• Provide leadership support for the daily management and operation of the therapeutic day school
• Serve as the on-site administrative designee in the absence of the Principal, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making
• Act as a designated point person for non-routine and urgent operational matters, including facilities issues, vendor interactions, safety concerns, and unexpected disruptions (e.g., facilities emergencies, service providers arriving on site).
• Assist with general administrative duties, including filing, mailings, documentation organization, and operational recordkeeping.
• Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of school-wide events, initiatives, and activities.

Assessment Coordination & Data Management

Coordinate state-mandated and alternate assessments, including but not limited to :

• Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM)
• IAR / ISA[PJ1]Brockport Physical Fitness Assessment
• ACCESS for ELLs
• Ensure assessments are administered, documented, and reported in accordance with ISBE requirements.
• Support teachers in completing assessments within required timelines.

Program Coordination & Partnerships

• Support coordination of the Francis Parker HS program partnership, including communication, scheduling, and logistical oversight.
• Support reintegration planning and coordination.
• Support coordination of interns and volunteers.

Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of federal and Illinois special education law, ISBE guidance, and best practices in therapeutic education.
• Participate in professional learning activities required to maintain licensure and endorsements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or agency administration consistent with the scope of the position.

This is a full time opportunity working 40 hours per week, daytime hours M-F. Full-time employees at PACTT are eligible for full benefits after their probationary period ends.
