POSITION SUMMARY The Materials Associate supports the daily operations of Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Shipping & Receiving.
This position is designed for an individual seeking to develop a career in Materials Management and Supply Chain Operations. The role provides hands-on exposure to procurement, inventory management, receiving, warehouse operations, supplier communications, and ERP transactions.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS includes, but not limited to:
- Create, maintain, and track purchase orders, supplier records, pricing data, and inventory transactions within the ERP system.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, monitor pricing, lead times, order status, and delivery performance, and expedite critical materials as needed.
- Support supplier relationship management, performance monitoring, and new supplier qualification efforts.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure materials meet specifications and resolve quality, shortage, and delivery issues.
- Participate in cost reduction, continuous improvement, and purchasing performance reporting initiatives.
- Assist with receiving, inspection, stock replenishment, inventory control, cycle counts, and physical inventory activities.
- Maintain warehouse and stockroom organization, inventory accuracy, and material flow between departments.
- Support shipping, material handling, and preparation of outgoing materials.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- US Persons only per ITAR Regulations
- Strong interest in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Procurement, or Materials Management
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to learn ERP/MRP systems
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
- Experience in operations, logistics, inventory management, hospitality management, retail management, customer service, or similar fast-paced environments is preferred
- Prior purchasing or manufacturing experience is beneficial but not required
- Demonstrated leadership experience through work, athletics, military service, student organizations, or other activities is a plus
