POSITION/TITLE: Production Control Specialist
SUMMARY:
Helps control the flow of work orders throughout the manufacturing process and expedites when necessary. Collaborates with various departments to determine the current production status and provide projected completion dates to Management. Maintains the Master Schedule based on the current production status and coordinates with Production Planning to incorporate schedule changes. Responsible for adjusting the Planned Ship Date in MieTrak and publish daily/weekly production schedules. Works closely with subcontractors to ensure timely completion of outside processes (plating, dip brazing, heat treating, etc.) and expedites as required. Provides daily/weekly status updates on the status of Past Due items to Management and Inside Sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Duties and responsibilities to accomplish the primary function of helping to control the flow of work orders throughout the manufacturing process:
· - Plan and monitor material movement in the production cycle to ensure continuous operations.
· – Distribute Work Orders to the correct Work Centers as required.
· - Review production plan against the Work Order progress to identify risks and communicate them to Management.
· - Analyze job status versus customer delivery dates and expedite when necessary to ensure timely delivery.
· - Review the impact of change orders against the Work Order progress and locate and update the Work Orders accordingly.
· - Monitor the progress of Work Orders and coordinate with Management to determine an accurate ship date and update the Planned Ship Dates accordingly in MieTrak.
· - Communicate production delays and recover status to Inside Sales and Management with the Past Due Report.
· - Deliver components and kits to Detailed Assembly, Shipping and from Outside Process as required to meet production needs.
· – Support Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering and Operation Excellence to implement Lean principles.
SKILLS:
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
· Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and environments.
· Extremely detail oriented.
· Experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and or software.
· Self-motivated and takes on challenges with minimal direction, with the ability to be proactive and drive actions and produce positive results.
· Ability to accurately track many Work Orders throughout the manufacturing process and provide real-time status.
· Managing production status using MRP software, Microsoft Excel and other reports
· Experienced and effective communicator (presentation skills, written and verbal communication) with leadership skills to effectively communicate with department managers, supervisors and manufacturing employees.
· Solid analytical skills with an ability to apply critical thinking techniques to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
· 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
· 4 year degree preferred
· Experience with scheduling, expediting, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices
· MS Office applications and MRP software proficiency
