Job Title: Deli Associate

4-5 day/32-40hr work week

Job Description:

Act as a Deli Associate for the store; providing first class customer service at all times.

The associate will assist with kitchen operations, assist in creating food items for the hot case and deli, and uphold food quality & health safety standards. Key responsibilities include food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting overall department functions. Essential qualities include strong customer service skills, attention to detail, food safety knowledge, and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by giving customers immediate and full attention.
• Answer customer questions and follow up on requests.
• Offer product samples to customers.
• Assist the Department Manager and team with general kitchen tasks.
• Prepare food items following recipes and be confident creating your own dishes.
• Work with the Department Manager to develop new hot case and deli items.
• Ensure all food meets company standards for quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Follow food safety guidelines and use kitchen tools and equipment safely.
• Keep department supplies stocked and organized.
• Keep shelves and cases clean, stocked, and properly rotated.
• Make sure pricing and signage are accurate.
• Stay informed about new products and where they are located.
• Keep the work and shopping areas safe, clean, and well-organized.
• Record product transfers, waste, and spoilage correctly.
• Understand product preparation and nutritional information.
• Keep back stock and cooler areas clean and organized.

Other:

• Assist in the development of sales programs and product development that will maximize profit and minimize shrink
• Lead the stores effort in Food Safety compliance and cleanliness.

Assist in the general operation of the store, when necessary, to include cashiering, vendor affairs, deposit returns, etc.

Compensation:

$17.00 to $17.50 per hour. Starting wage is based on prior experience.

60 HRS P.T.O. after 1 consecutive year of employment (Standard 40hr P.T.O. formula will apply for 1st year), 100 HRS P.T.O after 2 consecutive years of employment

Performance Bonus- The department will bonus 10% of gross dollar increase (minus new equipment (3 yrs amortized) and labor increases) from the previous year.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in a grocery store setting is preferred
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash handling
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on food service
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills for cash register transactions
- Familiarity with food preparation and handling
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities
