Remote role with 25-50% travel required. Corporate office located near St. Louis, MO (not required to work in office). Primary projects located in Hawaii, Japan and Washington DC; future projects on West Coast, East Coast, and throughout Indo-Pacific region.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior ICT Consultant to join our team in support of an exciting and fulfilling program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning and design of campus-wide telecommunications infrastructure projects for US Marine Corps installations, including critical communications facilities such as Data Centers, Digital Central Offices (DCO), and Area Distribution Facilities (ADF). This role requires a strong understanding of low voltage facility infrastructure design, cost and construction methods including inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) pathways, copper and fiber cabling, network racks/cabinets, communications bonding and grounding, cable pathway systems, critical power and cooling systems, etc. This is a Customer-facing role. Travel will be required for the performance of site surveys, design reviews, QA inspections and client meetings.
High- and low-level design work may include developing such documentation as the Bill of Materials (BOM), Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE), Funding Requests (DD Form 1391), construction drawings, butterfly diagrams, riser diagrams, rack elevations, shop drawings, engineering details, test plans, product submittals, etc. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all designs meet and comply with industry best practices and applicable standards such as UFC, OSHA, National Electrical Code (NEC), BICSI, and EIA/TIA.
Responsibilities
Plan, survey, estimate and design low voltage telecommunications projects including IT facility infrastructure upgrades and fiber cabling, including but not limited to:
- Conduct site surveys to document and assess existing infrastructure conditions and make recommendations for improvements.
- Analyze survey data and legacy GIS/CAD data to determine the most cost-effective and efficient manner and method to perform cabling modernizations.
- Draft layouts, designs and schematics for cabling systems using BlueBeam Revu, AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro or other design software.
- Engineer the complete modernization of campus-wide OSP fiber connectivity for US military installations including buried and aerial applications.
- Develop Business Case Analysis (BCA) reports and recommendations for emerging products and technologies.
- Conduct quality assurance (QA) inspections of installed systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Assist in the development of executive-level master plans and timelines for installation projects.
- Provide technical support and training to clients on system installation, operations and maintenance.
- Work with field teams to maintain accurate documentation of all installations.
Qualifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and technical writing ability.
- BICSI RCDD or OSP Designer credential, or ability to achieve it within 3 months.
- Ability to present ideas and designs in a professional manner to both executive and technical audiences, in person and virtually.
- US person with ability to receive and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
- 10+ years of verifiable experience in telecommunications project construction and design. Direct, real world experience with utility contractors preferred.
- Demonstratable knowledge of low voltage systems, wiring techniques, and layout design principles.
- Strong understanding of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and BICSI best practices.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD for drafting schematics and layouts is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- BICSI RCDD or OSP certification preferred, or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
