VDC / BIM Engineer
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
Level: Entry to Mid-Level (1-5 years)
I am working with a well-established engineering consultancy that is investing heavily in VDC and BIM capabilities as part of its long-term growth strategy. They are looking to add a VDC / BIM Engineer to support a growing pipeline of industrial and high-end residential work.
They are very intentional about positioning this role beyond traditional "3D modelling" - this is a project-impacting, coordination-heavy BIM role with real ownership and visibility.
This position sits at the intersection of design, coordination, and project delivery. You will be responsible for developing and managing models, producing drawing packages, and coordinating across internal and external teams.
The work is heavily Revit-based, with a strong focus on delegated design and real project contribution rather than pure drafting or detailing.
-
Develop, manage, and coordinate BIM models across multiple projects
-
Work closely with engineers on delegated design elements
-
Produce and manage full drawing and documentation packages
-
Coordinate models with external consultants and client teams
-
Review and integrate models received from outside firms
-
Support clash detection and coordination workflows
-
Maintain BIM standards, workflows, and model accuracy
-
Assist in balancing speed of delivery with quality and process
-
Industrial projects with major clients, including automotive-related work
-
Luxury residential projects, including some forensic inspection-related work
-
High-quality project portfolio with a premium positioning in the market
The firm has a clear growth plan focused on expanding locally first, before scaling more broadly over the next 5 to 10 years.
-
2-6 years of experience in BIM, VDC, or related role
-
Strong proficiency in Revit
-
Experience with model coordination and drawing production
-
Familiarity working with models from external stakeholders
-
Understanding of structural or building systems is preferred
-
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and fast-paced deliverables
-
Software: Revit (required), Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360 / ACC (preferred)
-
Education: Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
-
Certifications: Autodesk certifications are a plus, but not required
-
100% in-office initially, with flexibility built on trust over time
-
Modern office environment with strong nearby amenities
-
Team-focused, collaborative setting
This team places a strong emphasis on:
-
Collaboration and open communication
-
Being receptive to feedback and continuous improvement
-
Working in a supportive, non-political environment
They are intentionally looking to avoid candidates from environments where teams tend to be defensive or resistant to feedback. Cultural fit is just as important as technical ability.
-
Some clients operate at a fast pace, occasionally expecting same-day deliverables
-
Projects can be fee-sensitive, requiring careful balance between speed and quality
-
The business is focused on improving processes while maintaining high standards
-
Healthcare: Fully covered (no employee contribution), with plans to extend to family coverage
-
Retirement: 3% match
-
PTO:
-
3 weeks vacation
-
Flexible time off for appointments (not strictly tracked)
-
10-12 additional paid days
-
Office shutdown between Christmas Eve and New Year (not deducted from PTO)
-
Strong exposure to real project delivery and delegated design
-
Opportunity to work on industrial and high-end residential projects
-
Clear growth path in a firm planning long-term expansion
-
Collaborative team with a strong emphasis on culture and fit
-
High level of visibility and impact compared to typical BIM roles
