We are seeking a results-driven, team-oriented, self-motivated professional who combines broad technical skills with a high degree of effective communication and collaboration for the position of Senior Site Reliability Engineer working on our Publishing Systems on the AWS Cloud platform.
About the Role
You will:
Partner with engineering teams on AWS projects that evolve stability and supportability of production and pre-production publishing application systems, infrastructure and environment.
Response and ownership of incidents - identify problems, determine mitigation steps, determine root cause, identify preventative actions, c ommunicate status with the team and stakeholders.
Y ou will participate on a level-2 support rotation , acting as escalation for level-1 support.
This position requires some flexibility in work schedule as support is need ed off hours.
Desire to introduce automation to replace manual operations.
Implement nonfunctional requirements in prod and pre-prod to ensure system availability, scalability, performance, monitoring, alerting and efficient incident troubleshooting .
Leverage and augment standard system tools for collection of AWS metrics for use in improving performance.
About You
You’re a fit for the role of Customer Support Representative Tier II if your background includes:
Education / Experience
A four-year degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
4+ years of operations or development related experience.
Qualifications
Experience with CI/CD technologies (AWS CodeBuild , AWS Code Pipeline, AWS CLI/SDK, Github Actions)
Familiarity with CI/CD principles (Blue/Green, Versioning, Automated Testing, HA, DR)
Familiarity with writing Cloudformation templates
Experience using scripting and markup languages (JSON, YAML, Python, Bash, Go)
Experience working with Git
Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Datadog , ELK )
Willingness and enthusiasm to support a variety of applications, crossing multiple platforms, including pager coverage on a rotating basis, assist other team members off-hours with urgent incident/change activities
Ability to take ownership of issues and drive to resolution with limited assistance
Keep up to date with emerging cloud technology trends, especially around DevOps, Service Reliability , and Security.
A rticulate /analyze technical issues, and share ideas, participate in peer discussions and solutions. Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, management and business team members.
