About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team responsible for designing, developing, and integrating highly complex software functions across healthcare technology platforms. This individual will serve as a senior technical contributor and program team leader, providing expertise in software architecture, requirements, design, coding, integration, testing, certification, and customer support.
The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in identifying and developing new products, supporting future business opportunities, driving value engineering initiatives, and implementing program and process improvements. This person will act as a primary technical authority and focal point for driving technical goals and objectives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate complex software solutions within healthcare technology environments.
- Lead software architecture, requirements gathering, technical design, coding, integration, testing, certification, verification, and validation activities.
- Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for software development initiatives.
- Support feature definition and product development efforts for new and existing healthcare applications.
- Lead proposals and technical solutions that address future business opportunities and process improvements.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to align software solutions with organizational goals.
- Provide production support, troubleshooting, and customer support for assigned applications and platforms.
- Drive program/process changes, value engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure software solutions meet quality, compliance, performance, and scalability requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a healthcare payer environment, including claims, billing, enrollment, and care management teams.
- Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience performing software architecture, requirements analysis, design, and coding for healthcare products or healthcare technology systems.
Strong hands-on development experience with:
- SQL
- .NET / C#
- RESTful APIs
- SSIS
- SSRS
- Hands-on experience with QNXT, a Cognizant-developed healthcare administration platform used in the payer space.
- Experience working with systems that support claims, billing, enrollment, and/or care management, preferably within Medicaid and Medicare environments.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience with software configuration management and change management practices.
- Ability to code in multiple programming languages.
- Business-oriented approach to software development, with the ability to balance technical execution and business priorities.
- Recent healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on QNXT experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Healthcare EDI knowledge.
- Most recent professional experience within the healthcare industry, preferably in a healthcare payer environment.
- Experience supporting Medicare, Medicaid, claims processing, billing, enrollment, or care management platforms.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Phoenix, AZ
