Videographer and Content Producer
Location: Indiana (on-site / hybrid) Reports to: Owner
About the role
We're a roofing company with a strong website content programme already in place, but a gap in video and social media. We need someone to own the entire process of turning our knowledge into video content and social media posts. The owner is willing and available to appear on camera, but this role is the driving force that makes it happen consistently. If you're not chasing people down and putting them in front of a camera on a set schedule, this role isn't working.
What you'll be responsible for
Video production: Plan, schedule, and run regular video shoots with the owner and team members. Film, edit, and publish long-form videos to YouTube, with each video designed to sit on a specific page of our website answering a real question our customers are asking. Cut long-form content into YouTube Shorts. Own the shoot calendar and hold people to it.
Social media content creation: Take our existing blog articles and repurpose them into social media posts for Facebook and Instagram. This includes creating graphics, carousels, and visual assets, not just text posts. Pull clips, images, and key points from video shoots to keep social channels consistently active. Manage a content calendar and handle regular posting.
Community monitoring: Keep an eye on comments and messages across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. Flag questions and enquiries to the owner or team for response. Handle basic engagement like thanking people for positive comments, but direct any substantive roofing questions to the people who know the answers.
Channel growth: Track basic performance metrics across YouTube and social platforms. Identify what content is getting traction and feed that back into the content plan.
What we're looking for
The must-haves: Competent with a camera, lighting, and audio for indoor and on-location shoots. Comfortable with video editing software and able to produce clean, professional output. Able to create graphics and visual content for social media (carousels, branded templates, before-and-after layouts) using tools like Canva or similar. Organised, proactive, and comfortable directing the owner. If you wait to be told what to film, this won't work. You need to be the person who builds the schedule, prepares the topics, and makes the shoots happen.
Nice to have: Experience with YouTube channel management and optimisation. Understanding of social media algorithms and best practices for organic reach. Experience in trades, construction, or home services (not essential, but helpful context). Basic understanding of SEO and how video supports a wider content strategy.
About the output we expect
Every key page on our website should have a supporting YouTube video of the owner talking through that topic. Our YouTube channel should be active with a mix of long-form videos and Shorts. Our Facebook and Instagram accounts should be posting regularly with a mix of video clips, graphics, carousels, and repurposed blog content. This is a volume role. Consistency matters more than perfection.
Personality fit
This is worth spelling out. The reason we're hiring for this role is that video keeps not getting done, despite the willingness being there. The person who fills this seat needs to be a driver, not a passenger. You'll be managing up as much as executing. If you're the kind of person who builds a system, holds people accountable to it, and doesn't let things slide to next week, you'll do well here. If you need to be managed closely yourself, this isn't the right fit
