Position Overview
At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), the role of the Safety Specialist – Manufacturing is to monitor, support and provide direction for the implementation and continued fulfillment of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs within the organization. Primary duties include ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations and company policies, leading and conducting safety assessments, and providing EHS subject matter guidance to business unit leaders, supervisors, first-aid personal, and other functional teams. This role is vital for ensuring workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and minimizing environmental harm.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance

Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with safe work procedures and proper equipment operation; report findings and support corrective action plans

Perform job hazard analyses to identify risks, implement control measures, and determine appropriate PPE requirements

Lead compliance initiatives related to hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal in accordance with regulatory standards
Training & Development
-
Deliver and support EHS training programs for employees and management across the plant

Partner with the Learning Management team to assign and track job-specific training aligned with company policies and regulatory requirements

Coordinate and facilitate departmental safety toolbox talks to reinforce safe work practices
Safety Programs & Communication

Assist in the implementation and rollout of site safety policies and programs

Promote safety awareness by distributing information through bulletins, newsletters, and communication boards

Support and engage the site safety committee to drive participation and continuous improvement initiatives
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide safety guidance and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Additional Responsibilities & Miscellaneous

Perform other duties as assigned to support the EHS department and corporate objectives
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage employees at all levels

Apply in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations
-
Utilize strong problem-solving, observation, and auditing skills to identify and address workplace risks
-
Manage multiple priorities with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
-
Operate independently with strong self-leadership while also contributing effectively in a team environment
-
Use electronic tools (e.g., tablets, smartphones) to document inspections, assessments, and observations
-
Exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint

Adapt quickly to changing priorities, work under varying demands, and meet project deadlines
-
Meet physical and scheduling requirements, including flexible hours, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
-
Possess bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)

Bring 5+ years of experience in an EHS-related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment

Demonstrate strong document management capabilities with a high level of accuracy
-
Exhibit experience in training development and delivering engaging safety presentations
-
Show the ability to influence and sustain a positive EHS culture across the organization

Compensation
The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

Base: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour

Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $72,800 - $93,600
