About the Role

D9Tech Resources is sourcing a senior cloud migration consultant to lead the planning and advisory side of a large enterprise data center exit onto AWS. This is the more experienced counterpart to an established migration planning seat, and the work stays squarely in the advise-and-assist lane: customer-facing, strategic, and limited to non-production planning. Where a mid-level analyst executes the wave plan, this consultant owns it. They set the migration strategy, make the target-state architecture and application disposition calls, and serve as the senior technical voice the customer's leadership leans on through every wave.

The role pairs deep AWS migration expertise with the judgment to operate independently across discovery, sequencing, and execution prep. Strong candidates have not merely supported large migrations; they have led them end to end, and they can defend a rehost-versus-replatform-versus-refactor decision in front of both engineers and executives.

What You'll Do

• Own the migration strategy and methodology. Establish the wave-planning framework, governance cadence, and migration operating model rather than executing within someone else's.
• Make architecture and disposition decisions. Determine which of the 7 Rs applies to each in-scope application, define the target-state architecture and landing zone approach, and decide where modernization is worth the risk.
• Lead discovery and assessment. Meet with application and business owners to map the current state, set the standard for dependency analysis, and surface optimization opportunities across the portfolio.
• Build the dependency picture. Direct comprehensive dependency mapping across inter-application, network, and database layers, and use it to sequence waves by dependency and business priority.
• Refine scope and prepare execution. Tighten migration scope, set the bar for migration runbooks, test plans, and rollback procedures, and ensure each wave is ready before it moves.
• Advise customer leadership. Run steering reviews, communicate risk and timeline directly to senior stakeholders, and act as the trusted advisor on migration decisions.
• Coordinate the supporting cast. Engage AWS internal teams and subject-matter experts, and guide or mentor junior consultants and migration analysts on the engagement.
• Transfer knowledge. Author the migration best-practices guide and tool documentation, and lead knowledge-transfer sessions so the customer's IT team can sustain the environment.

Required Qualifications

• [12]+ years of IT experience, including a track record of leading enterprise AWS migrations from discovery through cutover.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Professional (Associate accepted as a floor with commensurate senior migration experience).
• Demonstrated ownership of large-scale, multi-wave migration programs with complex application, network, and data dependencies.
• Deep portfolio rationalization and dependency-mapping experience, with the ability to defend disposition and sequencing decisions.
• Strong executive-level stakeholder management and customer-facing communication.
• Familiarity with NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, and DISA STIG frameworks.
• CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 compliant

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Specialty.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Professional.
• Prior delivery on AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) engagements.
• Hands-on experience at scale with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN), Application Discovery Service, and Migration Hub.
• VMware-to-AWS EC2 migrations, data center consolidation, and cloud landing zone design.
• EC2, VPC, and S3 architecture depth, with working familiarity in Terraform, CloudFormation, and CDK.
• Project or business-analysis credentials such as PMP or CBAP.

Pay: $70.00 - $90.00 per hour
