Job Summary:
Dental Hygienists work with Dentists and their teams to meet the oral health needs of patients with focus on the consistent delivery of quality dental care and exceptional patient experiences. Develops systems for proficient and effective work processes. Partakes in and oversees establishment of practice policies and procedures. Implements organizational strategies in order to achieve established goals and objectives to meet expectations for both patient care and financial outcomes. Serves as a champion for the organization's mission and values, and to the commitment of excellence to MDP standards. Acts as a cultural ambassador for the brand and the organization in the communities we serve.
Essential Functions:
The following is a summary of the essential functions for this position. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below, and specific job functions may change periodically.
1. Personally contribute to a culture that delivers an exceptional patient experience for every patient, every time.
2. Helps ensure efficient and profitable operations by seeking patient referrals, maintaining equipment, utilizing supplies cost-effectively, and posting patient charges accurately.
3. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
4. Promotes a "team first" attitude by demonstrating positive and caring relationships and communication with coworkers.
5. Follows CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control.
6. Provides necessary information in the form of x-rays, verbal communication, and other dental tests to help the dentist diagnose dental treatment.
7. Performs comfortable periodontal evaluation, general scaling, deep scaling, and root planning for all patients.
8. Completes all clinical notes according to practice guidelines before dismissing patient.
Basic Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Required
- Dental Hygiene Certificate/Degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene Program
- Active dental hygiene license issued by the state board
- Current CPR Certification, Hepatitis B vaccination
- Patient screening procedures, such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure. Patient education and counseling on oral hygiene and nutrition, perform prophylaxis, take x rays, impressions, apply fluoride and place sealants. Perform periodontal evaluation, scaling and root planing procedures. Documentation in clinical notes

- Local anesthesia and nitrous oxide certification, laser debridement certification, general supervision privileges, CPR Card, Hepatitis B
- Intraoral camera, caries detection, Velscope, Open Dental Software, digital radiograph technology
