Business Development/ Sales Engineer

We are seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to lead growth efforts for Contech’s Midwest operations. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding client relationships, and driving revenue across all Contech service lines, including engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and maintenance support.
The ideal candidate will act as a market-facing leader, responsible for client engagement from initial contact through project award, and positioning Contech as a full-service industrial solutions provider across the Midwest.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development Manager will be responsible for:
Market Growth & Sales Leadership
- Identify, develop, and execute business development strategies to grow Contech’s presence across the Midwest
- Actively pursue and secure new projects across all service offerings, including:
o Electrical Engineering
o Instrumentation & Controls Engineering
o Process Automation & Control Systems
o Process Analyzer Systems (design, integration, and support)
o Heat Trace Systems (electrical and steam tracing solutions)
o EPC / Design-Build Projects
o I&E Construction Services
o Panel & Control System Fabrication
o Maintenance, Reliability, and Field Support Services
- Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline, from lead generation through project award
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders across the Midwest region
- Serve as the primary point of contact for targeted accounts
- Identify customer needs and align Contech’s full capabilities to provide integrated solutions
Proposal & Project Development
- Lead and support proposal development, including scope definition, solution development, pricing strategy, and client presentations
- Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and construction teams to develop full-scope, executable solutions
- Drive contract negotiations and secure project awards
Strategic Positioning
- Develop and execute account strategies for key industrial clients (refining, chemical, midstream, power, manufacturing, etc.)
- Represent Contech at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions throughout the Midwest
- Gather market intelligence and provide feedback to leadership on opportunities, risks, and competitive positioning
Internal Coordination
- Work closely with engineering, project management, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure alignment between client expectations and execution capabilities
- Support project handoff and maintain involvement to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within industrial, EPC, electrical, or automation environments
- Strong understanding of electrical, instrumentation, controls, analyzers, and heat trace systems
- Experience selling multi-discipline or full-service project delivery (engineering + construction strongly preferred)
- Established network within Midwest industrial markets is highly preferred
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently and drive regional growth
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (preferred)
Working conditions are as follows:
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Core Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30pm
- Range: Permanent – 90 Day Probation
- Travel: 50 %
