Composite Tooling & Fabrication Technician
2–3 month project with potential for longer-term work depending on project needs.
We are a technology-driven manufacturing team working on advanced precision systems for demanding industries. Our work requires exceptional craftsmanship, consistency, and attention to detail.
We value initiative, accountability, and people who take pride in doing things correctly the first time. We are building a team of experienced composite technicians who thrive in a high-performance, fast-paced production environment.
What You’ll DoComposite Tooling & Fabrication
- Manufacture composite tooling from plugs, masters, and patterns
- Perform wet layup, resin infusion, and prepreg lamination for structural and tooling applications
- Lay up fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other reinforcements using templates, dimensions, or projection systems
- Mix, degas, and apply resins, gel coats, and surface coats as required
- Build and install vacuum bags, perform leak checks, and run assigned cure cycles
- Place and manage consumables including release film, peel ply, breather, thermocouples, and related materials
Tool Preparation, Finishing & Sealing
- Prepare and maintain tooling: sand, polish, seal, release, and maintain molds
- Demold tools and parts and perform trimming, sanding, polishing, and surface refinement
- Perform cosmetic finishing to meet high surface quality and durability requirements
- Apply tool sealing systems, mold release agents, and surface treatments
- Support tooling repairs, rework, and ongoing maintenance
Inspection, Quality & Process Control
- Inspect tooling surfaces for defects, print-through, porosity, dimensional accuracy, and surface quality
- Follow travelers, drawings, layup schedules, and controlled process documentation
- Document material usage, freeze/thaw status, cure data, and production activities
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces and properly stored tooling assets
- Follow all safety procedures related to composite materials, dust, solvents, and resins
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with engineering and production teams
- Provide hands-on feedback to improve tooling design and manufacturability
- Identify issues early and contribute to process improvements
- Support prototype builds and iterative development efforts
What We’re Looking For

- Strong understanding of industry best practices in layup, vacuum bagging, infusion, and prepreg processing
- High sense of urgency with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to identify and solve problems quickly and communicate clearly
- Comfortable reading and interpreting layup books and controlled work instructions
- Proficient with measuring and fabrication tools (calipers, scales, tape measures, drills, grinders, etc.)
- Willingness to learn new methods and incorporate new technologies into workflow
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work hands-on in a production setting
Preferred
- Experience in aerospace, motorsport, or other high-performance industries
- Experience operating ply cutters or working with digitally driven layup processes
- Experience with cosmetic-grade tooling or Class A surface requirements
- Ability to work extended hours when required to meet production timelines
