Overview
High end luxury drapery and soft furnishings workroom is seeking an experienced and highly skilled seamstress to join our growing team. We mainly service interior designers and fabricate draperies and other window treatments, bedding, cushions and pillows. We take pride in providing our clients with the highest level of service, great communication, and finest quality of work. Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Reliable transportation
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US. (We participate in E-Verify.)
• Good work ethic; great attitude, punctual & reliable
• Good communication skills, ability to speak, read and understand English
• Attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship, focused on accuracy
• Willingness and desire to learn new skills & take on new responsibilities.
• Good basic math skills & ability to read & use tape measure and calculator
• Proficient at handstitching and using a sewing machine (industrial machine experience is a plus) (Experience sewing draperies is an even bigger plus.)
• Ability to lift & carry a minimum of 30 lb. bolts of fabric with assistance
• Ability to stand at a cutting table or sit at a sewing machine for extended periods of time
• Finger dexterity and hand coordination as well as good vision, including with the aid of glasses or contacts, as this job entails a lot of handstitching, threading needles, matching patterns, threading machines, etc.
• Willingness to operate small power tools such as hand drills and air staplers.

Duties:

• Checking in fabrics for correct yardages, labeling, and inspecting for flaws.
• Reading work orders and calculating cuts and layouts for cutting.
• Laying out, cutting out & sewing all types of window treatments, bedding, pillows & cushions.
• Help with calculating yardages and doing estimates for clients.
• Occasional light upholstering, such as wrapping chair seats and cornices.
• Ironing, fan-folding and packaging draperies and other items.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
