Brief Job Description:
The Process Engineer is responsible for the process improvements and capital projects for PMC units. This position requires the use and application of engineering and plant operating principles and concepts. This role will develop technical knowledge of the processes and become a plant resource for continuous improvement. The expectation is to work as a team with operations to facilitate efficient and safe operations. This person will work very closely with the PMC senior process engineer and embedded multi-plant operations
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
· Scoping capital and expense projects to meet operations improvement goals
· Managing small to medium capital projects (typically < $1MM)
· Finding solutions for low-cost operations and options for increased production rates
· Assisting operations with root cause analysis, including troubleshooting and making recommendations to resolve plant process issues
· Data acquisition and evaluation from data historian
· Monitor, document, explain, and provide solutions to improve asset utilization
· Evaluating existing and new processes for safety impact
· Area subject matter expert for process hazard analysis
· Control system troubleshooting and programming
· Providing material and energy balances
· Developing design basis for and sizing new equipment such as heat exchangers, dryers, reactors etc.
· Modeling involving distillation, heat transfer, reaction, and other common chemical engineering unit operations
· Pressure relief design basis
· Conducting feasibility analysis including cost estimates for manufacturing new products
· Use of process modeling tools
· Write and update operating procedures as needed
· Initiate and complete Management of Change and audit action items as assigned
· Function as back up for the Senior Process Engineer
· Collaborate with team members and embedded plant operation members to achieve process and project goals

Education, Training, and Experience Required
· BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
· Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a chemical or petrochemical plant environment; preference is 3+ years’ experience
· Experience with highly hazardous chemical processes is a plus
· Leadership or leading teams experience is a plus
· Maintenance and/or chemical laboratory experience is a plus
