Entry-Level Electrical Engineer
Power Systems & Controls — Richmond, VA
Full-time | In person | Monday–Friday
Starting Pay: $70,000+ per year, based on experience
Power Systems & Controls is a Richmond-based manufacturer specializing in electrical power systems, UPS equipment, power conditioning equipment, and modular electrical buildings. Established in 1965, PS&C has remained locally based in Richmond, VA and continues to design, manufacture, and support power-quality solutions for customers across a wide range of industries.
We are looking for an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This is a great opportunity for a recent Electrical Engineering graduate who wants hands-on experience designing real products, supporting manufacturing, and learning directly from experienced engineers.
As an employee-owned company, PS&C is looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career, grow technically, and become a key part of our engineering and manufacturing team.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will support senior engineers with the design, documentation, and production support of electrical systems used in PS&C products.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the design of electrical systems for power products and modular building projects
- Create and update electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and bills of material
- Use AutoCAD to develop and maintain engineering documentation
- Support manufacturing by answering technical questions and helping resolve design or production issues
- Work with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing from order entry through shipment
- Help prepare procedures, specification sheets, design files, and controlled engineering documents
- Review projects for compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and applicable electrical codes/regulations
- Attend project meetings and help keep engineering deliverables on schedule
- Learn PS&C design standards, manufacturing practices, and product requirements
- Contribute ideas for product improvement, documentation improvement, and process improvement
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to government/customer contract requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD required
- Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow projects through completion
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working with both office and manufacturing teams
Preferred but not required:
- Internship, co-op, school project, or work experience involving electrical design, power systems, controls, manufacturing, or CAD
- Familiarity with AC/DC circuits, power distribution, control panels, wiring diagrams, or electrical enclosures

Why Join PS&C?
