Caltron Components Corporation, formed in 1964, is an independent Manufacturers' Representative Organization. Caltron operates in two major marketing areas: Northern California / Northern Nevada. As a company, we are staffed with technically trained and experienced sales personnel. Caltron specializes in Active Semiconductors, Passive Components, Electro-Mechanical Solutions and Power Conversion.
SUMMARY
As a Technical Sales Account Manager, you will be a technical sales resource, taking a consultative approach with our customers in aligning their needs to the impressive lines Caltron Components represents. In this role, you will be considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME), having been trained on our lines and using your technical acumen when presenting and selling. The position will be a trusted point of contact for our customers, while advancing the sales process. As the Acct. Mgr., you will work with assigned customers to understand their requirements and promote the right solution(s) for their business and technical needs. The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background on electronic components and systems, with a minimum of 2-5 years’ experience functioning in a technical sales role. The job requires strong account management skillset and advocacy to deliver the best solutions from the manufacturer’s that Caltron Components represents. Previous employment working for electronic component distribution considered valuable. Additionally, you must reside local to Silicon Valley, to support face-to-face customer meetings and inner-office requirements. Office is located in Santa Clara, and you must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and safe operating vehicle. This position offers a lucrative base salary, robust commissions and industry leading benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a close relationship with customers acting as a liaison between customers and the manufacturer’s, in support of Caltron.
- Primarily, the position focus is cross-line selling at assigned customers and inclusive of new customer acquisition, meeting or exceeding assigned revenue and profit targets and executing on new account initiation in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, with excellent communication skills, making sales call in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage new component technologies that support IoT, Network/Server, Automotive, Industrial Automation, Mil/Aero and more.
- Utilize CRM tools where required as your daily dashboard.
- This position may require some small level of national/international travel to support customers or lines.
- The ability to convert your technical knowledge base into transactional opportunities and to close business.
- Work in a collegial environment, supporting members of the team and utilizing leadership skills at customers, with lines and fellow associates.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Business or Engineering
- 2-5 years of applied technical selling experience. Prefer additional sales experience in a B2B environment. Compensation based on work history and verifiable points of success.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power supply function, RF understanding, IC implementations, electro-mechanical components, etc…
- Familiarity with all the leading local technology customers and some strong relationships.
- An understanding of component distribution and contract manufacturing, as it relates to the sales process.
- Possesses strong professional communication skills including: phone, written/E-mail, verbal, and presentation
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Applications and any related programs (email, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Experience in dealing with customers directly and have problem solving skills, with the ability to overcome objections and retain a positive attitude.
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding assigned jobs
- Must be well-organized and able to work without constant supervision.
