Chemical Operation Specialist:
You will bring:
High school graduate or equivalent education.
Prior experience working at a chemical manufacturing facility preferred.
Perform all required safety procedures applicable to product manufacture in the chemical processing units.
Perform inspections and checklists for pollution control devices.
Perform all tasks that are required to operate the chemical processing unit at the facility.
Demonstrate computer skills to access plant information, monitor email, and conduct production materials management responsibilities.
Knowledge of chemical processing equipment including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, piping networks, hoses, pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, scrubbers, meters, etc.
Operate fork trucks, drive yard tractor to manipulate box and tank trailers, operate track mobile for spotting rail tank cars throughout the plant site.
Functional capabilities with MS WORD, MS EXCEL, MS ACCESS, MS POWER POINT, MS OUTLOOK.
Perform all MMRP and CMMS transactions required to manage production schedules, modify inventory transactions.
Prepare work notifications as required to maintain the operating units.
Perform minor service maintenance on equipment as defined by the Production Superintendent.
Perform troubleshooting abilities to properly identify causes of production equipment and process upsets.
Perform DCS navigation; DCS trouble shooting, DCS operation such that the process can be safely and efficiently controlled.
Demonstrate basic PC skills required for electronic communications, maintenance work orders, incident/accident reporting, and data retrieval (MSDS).
Ability to efficiently and accurately communicate and work with peers, superiors, engineers, and other unit personnel, and in a positive and respectful manner.
Ability to effectively train peers on all aspects of the Production Operator job responsibilities.
Perform in-process testing of relevant samples in a QA lab
Knowledge of the 49 CFR Hazardous Material Regulations manual.
We count on you to:
Operate all production chemical processing equipment including reactors, feeders, heat exchangers, piping networks, hoses, pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, scales, tanks, scrubbers, meters, etc.
Conduct DCS operations to manipulate equipment controlled by the DCS.
Maintain appropriate batch and shift paperwork including all digital Operations Forms, i.e. Raw Material Transfers, Truck Loading and Unloading, and Railcar Loading
Maintain a clean and organized workplace meeting the housekeeping standard established by the Production Superintendent.
Follow the direction of the Production Superintendent, staff, and peers in a professional and respectful manner.
Prepare work notifications for maintenance on the unit as needed as well as preparing the equipment for maintenance.
Minimize waste generation; follow waste handling guidelines as specified in plant procedures.
Report any process upset, spill, injury, chemical release, security event, etc.
Safely operate fork trucks, yard tractor, and track mobile.
Perform minor maintenance activities on production equipment as directed by the Production Superintendent.
Represent Syensqo through daily actions that reinforce the corporate values; demonstrating personal commitment to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace for employees.
Work with engineers, production specialists, quality assurance technicians, distribution technicians, as well as other plant personnel to safely and efficiently accomplish plant responsibilities.
Perform site Safety Inspections for equipment such as Fire Extinguishers, Safety Shower and Eyewash Stations, and plant mobile equipment.
QHSSE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow all site safety rules and procedures; perform all work in a safe manner. Including all appropriate safety and operational checklists and inspections.
Attend all required HSE training activities as directed.
Participate in the facilities behavioral based safety observation program SMASH>
Authorize safe work permits as required and inspect work being performed in the unit.
Participate in PSSR, PHA’s, CTA.s and other risk reduction processes by lending experience and knowledge of plant operations.
Maintain operating equipment within environmental permit restrictions and Syensqo operational guidelines, including conducting permit mandated shift inspections and documentation.
Participate in incident investigation and incident clean up and remediation as required.
Responsible for maintaining a quality management system that meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 2015 standard.
Focus efforts in five areas which include Safety, Customer Focus, Manufacturing Excellence, Continuous Improvement, and Sustainability.
Represent Syensqo, USA through daily actions that reinforce the corporate values, demonstrating personal commitment to a safe, healthy and environmentally sound workplace for employees.
During emergency responses, initiate the Emergency Response System, shutdown equipment in a safe manner, shut off the source of the incident, evacuate per plant policies, and remove appropriate safety equipment.

Plant scheduling and logistics to accomplish daily production priorities.
Maintenance to assure proper operation, maintenance scheduling and equipment readiness for repairs or PM work.
Engineering and production specialists to address process improvement, quality, and productivity and safety concerns.
NATURE & SCOPE:
The Production Operator works with his/her peers to produce finished products in the production unit.
The Production Operator is trained in all aspects of operation of the production equipment and is responsible for safely and efficiently manufacturing finished products.
The Production Operator takes direction from and establishes priorities with peers, Production Superintendent, and other staff.
The Production Operator is the operational “owner” of the production unit and is responsible for what occurs in the equipment.

The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $41.06-$46.59 per hour. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
