Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in SQL database development and engineering (Oracle, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL preferred).
- SQL Mastery: Strong proficiency in writing advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, complex joins, and dynamic SQL).
- Performance Optimization: Proven experience identifying poorly performing queries and tuning them for optimal performance in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Database Concepts: Solid understanding of relational database concepts, ACID properties, normalization, and data warehousing principles.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data anomalies.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python or Java.
- Experience with big data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) or cloud database migrations.
- Prior experience working in the financial services, banking, or another highly regulated industry.
This role focuses on SQL database development and engineering with emphasis on performance, scalability, data integration, and governance. The position supports enterprise-scale database environments and requires strong technical capability in developing and optimizing SQL-based solutions. The role involves designing and maintaining ETL processes, contributing to data modeling efforts, and collaborating across Agile teams to translate business requirements into database implementations. Candidates are expected to maintain code quality standards, participate in production support, and ensure adherence to governance and compliance practices related to sensitive financial information. Success in this position requires advanced SQL expertise, deep understanding of relational database principles, strong analytical troubleshooting ability, and experience working with large datasets in enterprise environments.
Job Duties
- Database Development: Write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, triggers, and user-defined functions.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze execution plans, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries handling massive datasets to ensure low-latency data retrieval. Implement effective indexing and partitioning strategies.
- Data Integration (ETL): Design and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to move and transform data between operational systems and data warehouses.
- Data Modeling: Assist in the creation and modification of logical and physical data models to support new business features and reporting requirements.
- Collaboration: Work alongside cross-functional Agile teams to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions.
- Code Quality & Support: Participate in code reviews, ensure database version control, and provide production support for database-related application issues.
- Risk & Compliance: Strictly adhere to data governance, security, and compliance protocols to safeguard sensitive financial information.
