MODELING AND SIMULATION SOFTWARE ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

J12 is looking for a Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer to develop and employ software simulation applications and tools. This position involves: developing and/or maintaining simulation systems, components, and/or models; developing scripts and applications to better automate and orchestrate simulation execution and data collection; and/or developing scripts and applications to process, analyze, and visualize data; in support of various defense customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and execute experiments in AFSIM and/or other DoD simulation environments
• Support development of core test, evaluation, and/or simulation frameworks and plugins
• Integrate multiple tools, services, and/or scripts into unified environments for testing, validation, training, and/or simulation
• Collect experiment data; develop scripts to analyze data, generate reports, and create visualizations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical discipline
• Experience with at least two programming/software development languages (C, C++, Java, Python, etc)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
• Candidate must be a US-only Citizen.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical discipline
• Existing TS//SCI clearance

• Experience in performing analysis using AFSIM or another DoD simulation environment
• Experience in modeling and simulation as related to space, missile and/or aerodynamic system performance
• Experience in data science and data analytics
• Experience in building simulation scenarios to support analysis goals
• Experience in using agile software development as part of a team
• Experience with data analytics methods including data cleaning / preparation, data model building, and presentation
• Ability to interact with data suppliers, work well with coworkers and interface with customers
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues and provide comprehensive written, oral and/or digital products (including document organization and technical writing)
