About the Internship
The Manufacturing Internship provides college and vocational/technical school students with hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environment. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to gain exposure to production processes, equipment, safety practices, and career pathways within modern manufacturing.

Learning Objectives

• Gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting
• Understand production workflows, quality standards, and safety procedures
• Apply technical coursework to real-world manufacturing operation.
• Develop problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
• Explore long-term career opportunities in manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

• Sanding & filling in furniture
• Stripping pieces for refinishing
• Cleaning work areas
• Spraying finishes
• Apply protective or decorative finishes to workpieces or products.
• Fill cracks, imperfections, or holes in products or workpieces.
• Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces.
• Assist with day-to-day furniture finishing operations
• Follow all safety policies and PPE requirements
• Support tool setup and operation as appropriate
• Assist with quality checks and documentation
• Participate in training and job shadowing
• Maintain a clean and organized work area

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist in loading/unloading the vans and with material deliveries
• Attending measuring and installation appointments as needed
• Moving pieces within the shop
• Assisting other coworkers as needed

Knowledge

• Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Mathematical—Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, count) in different units of measurement
• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

• Language — Basic English reading, writing, communication
• Technology— Basic computer operating skills
• Communication— Conveying and understanding information
• Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

• Handling and Moving Objects — Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
• Time management — Good use of limited time.
• Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently completed a college or vocational manufacturing-related program
• Interest in manufacturing and skilled trades
• Willingness to learn and work safely

Supervision & Mentorship

Interns will receive hands-on supervision, mentorship, and regular feedback.

Career Pathway

Successful interns may be considered for continued employment, apprenticeships, or advanced training.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
