Web & Application Developer Intern at Destiny Technologies International

OBJECTIVE

The Web Developer / Web Application Programmer intern will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Destiny Technologies International, or a delegated manager. Primary duties will be to provide web and application development support to companies within the East West Consulting Group International, a Veteran owned management company headquartered in Tacoma, WA.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented and motivated web developer or application programmer for an internship within our team, providing development support for several key projects within the East West Consulting Group. As a web developer, you will be responsible for creating, updating and/or maintaining WordPress websites and other cloud-based systems that support multiple businesses and clients. You may also provide technical support to employees and management. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask and work independently with minimal instruction, and a strong attention to detail.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This internship may include work in one or more of the following areas:

• User Interface (UI) Design: Create the visual elements of a website or mobile application, ensuring that the layout, colors, and typography are visually appealing and aligned with brand standards.
• User Experience (UX) Design: Focus on the usability and accessibility of a website or mobile application, making sure that it is easy for users to navigate and find the information they need.
• Front-end Development: Implement the design of a website or mobile application using WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and/or REACT Native. Ensure the site or application is responsive and works well on various devices and screen sizes.
• Back-end Development: Develop the server, server-side applications, and databases that handle logic, data storage, and retrieval using MySQL and/or MSSQL.
• Testing: Regularly test the website and/or mobile application to ensure it performs well across all browsers and platforms. This includes functionality, performance, and security testing.
• Debugging: Identify and fix any bugs or issues that arise during the development process.
• Ongoing Maintenance: Perform regular updates to ensure the website and/or mobile application remains compatible with various platforms and devices and integrate new security practices to protect against vulnerabilities. Update content and ensure that the website remains fresh and relevant.
• Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize websites to rank well in search engines, which involves adjusting the content, structure, and HTML of the site and well as integrating WordPress plugins.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure that the website loads quickly and efficiently by optimizing code, images, and other elements.
• Providing support for any of the above development efforts through configuration and/or coding projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education and/or experience as a WordPress web developer, Mobile Application Programmer or relevant position and/or education.
• In-depth understanding of various programming languages, computer systems, networks, and various desktop and mobile operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS).
• Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles and best practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft and other cloud-based applications and servers.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and pass a background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent and relevant background, experience and/or education
