We're looking to add a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to our growing team! The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting Big Top Manufacturing's Quality Management System (QMS), driving continual improvement initiatives, reducing quality-related costs, improving process performance, and supporting the company's ISO 9001:2015 certification efforts.
This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Purchasing, Installation Services, and Quality to improve product quality, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness. This role reports to the Director of Quality.
Location: This position is based at our manufacturing site in Perry, FL, with an on-site schedule Monday through Thursday. Remote work is available on Fridays, unless project demands require a high level of in-person collaboration.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Supports the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring ongoing compliance with company standards and applicable requirements.
· Assists with internal audits to include preparation, documentation, and coordination of corrective actions to address identified gaps.
· Facilitates the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process, ensuring timely identification, documentation, and resolution of quality issues.
· Leads structured root cause investigations, applying standard problem-solving methodologies to identify and eliminate underlying causes.
· Validates the effectiveness of corrective actions, ensuring sustainable resolution and prevention of recurrence.
· Maintains controlled quality records and documentation, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
· Supports Management Review activities, including KPI development, tracking, analysis, and reporting to leadership.
· Delivers and reinforces quality training and awareness initiatives, promoting adherence to quality standards and a culture of accountability
· Tracks and analyzes NCR, CAR, SCAR, and warranty data, identifying trends, systemic risks, and improvement opportunities.
· Develops and implements standardized work, process controls, and best practices to improve consistency and repeatability across operations.
· Drives initiatives to reduce rework, scrap, warranty costs, and operational inefficiencies.
· Leads and supports continuous improvement projects, utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies to enhance process performance and product quality.
· Reviews engineering packages for quality, accuracy, and completeness, ensuring alignment with manufacturing and quality requirements.
· Supports implementation and sustainment of process controls and inspection plans, ensuring product conformity and process capability.
· Supports supplier quality management activities, including qualification, onboarding, and ongoing performance monitoring.
· Collaborates with suppliers to resolve quality issues through corrective actions and drives improvements in supplier performance.
· Performs data analysis and reporting, using quality metrics and trends to support decision-making, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Skills & Abilities:
· Advanced ability to lead structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 5 Whys and Fishbone (Ishikawa) to identify, address, and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
· Proficient in applying statistical methods and data analysis techniques to evaluate process performance and support fact-based decision-making.
· Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies, evaluate risks, and implement sustainable improvements that enhance quality, productivity, and cost performance.
· Working knowledge of Lean principles and tools (e.g., waste reduction, value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen) to improve operational flow and eliminate non-value-added activities.
· Strong commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement through proactive identification of opportunities, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined execution of improvement initiatives.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data/reporting tools to analyze trends, develop reports, and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
· Proven ability to support and drive supplier performance improvements through data analysis, corrective actions, and ongoing performance monitoring.
· Experience supporting ISO 9001:2015 certification and surveillance activities, with a strong understanding of compliance requirements and audit practices.
· Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying practical, timely, and effective solutions.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across functions, build relationships, and influence positive outcomes in a team environment.
· Commitment to understanding and meeting internal and external customer requirements, ensuring quality standards are consistently achieved and exceeded.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
· 3+ years of manufacturing quality experience preferred.
· Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
· Experience leading corrective action and root cause investigations.
· Experience with quality metrics and data analysis.
Physical Demands:
· Must be able to work in a production environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
· Must be able to accurately exchange information with co-workers, customers, vendors, and management.
· Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
· Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
· Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
· Prolonged periods working in a stationary position.
· Manual dexterity and visual acuity to properly evaluate equipment and quality of materials.
· Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Additional hours may be required to support the Organization’s goals.
