IEM is a global consulting firm dedicated to building a safe, secure, and resilient world. The company was founded in 1985 by Ms. Madhu Beriwal, who continues to serve as Founder and Chairwoman. This makes IEM the largest woman—and minority-owned professional services consulting firm. Since January 2024, Bryan Koon has served as our CEO and President.

Rooted in emergency management, disaster recovery, and homeland security, IEM has expanded to other areas to help create and rebuild resilient communities.

IEM works with government agencies and private sector organizations worldwide to improve protection and security for lives and infrastructure and to help states, regions, and communities recover more quickly from disasters. We integrate science, technology, and real-world experience to provide our customers with solutions that work and outcomes that matter.

Since 1985, our innovative strategies, technologies, and solutions have helped more than 300 government agencies and private industry customers achieve measurable results—saving lives, reducing costs, increasing efficiencies, and improving decision-making. We have worked with federal agencies like the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense; state and local emergency management organizations in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and three U.S. territories; critical infrastructure including nuclear power plants, chemical plants, hospitals, mass transit agencies, ports, and others. Our international work includes projects in India, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Korea, Taiwan, Haiti, and Kuwait.
