Mission Celebrates Strengths Through StandOut
Doesn't it feel better when we operate from a place of strength rather than weakness? Mission believes everyone has unique talents and gifts. By partnering with The Marcus Buckingham Company™, the organization is on a journey to have everyone identify their top two strengths, check-in with their leader each week, and focus each other to operate from their strengths, everyday. Find out how you can StandOut™ for yourself and the organization.
Great Place to Work and Practice
To help lead and support our journey, Great Place to Work & Practice Advisory Councils have been formed at all regional locations. The Councils are a cross-functional team of caregivers serving as a collective voice for the employee experience, and helping to influence the way our organization interacts, communicates and celebrates. This group of caregivers keeps connected on a monthly basis to provide the perspective of Mission Health employees from diverse job levels and types. They are frequently invited to share opinions with leadership to help inform the direction of specific initiatives and communications.

Care for the Caregiver/Team Member
Mission is committed to reducing burnout. We have many resources to build resiliency and help team members find balance. A cross functional team curates resources for quick access and deployment in times of stress. The team uses the community resiliency model, our employee assistance network, and several other home grown programs to meet the needs of teams. Mission is even piloting a new program called Life XT, to help individual team members build resiliency through Mindfulness, Movement, and Inquiry. Participants are matched with a coach to help them on their journey.
WooHoo! to You!
All Mission caregivers have access to a fun and interactive recognition platform to both send and receive words of gratitude and praise. This is our internal social media for recognition, where sending a thank you is as easy as a few clicks. For the extra special things....Earn points in WooHoo! by hitting service milestones or by being recognized by leaders for special acts of awesomeness. Spend accumulated points in an online recognition catalog.
Mission reNEW is about YOU!
Hassles slowing you down? There’s a spark for that. Introducing Mission: reNEW—sparking JOY, engagement and innovation. We should be working smarter, not harder! While this may appear easier said than done, it is a journey of continuous improvement and making the right thing easy to do, which can help bring JOY to our work. In constant pursuit of our BIG(GER) Aim, Mission: reNEW is a system-wide continuous improvement initiative aimed to reduce hassles, improve efficiency, and innovate how we operate and work together at every level by empowering and engaging caregivers. Together we grow an environment of teamwork by sharing responsibility and ownership of issue resolution, and problem solving via rapid cycle improvement in daily work.
Super Communicators
In the exploration of communication challenges across a large organization, a cross functional team discovered team members felt they often missed messages or rumors could dominate conversations and cloud actual happenings. From this exploration, Mission decided to leverage the talents of team members across the region. This voluntary group leverages the informal communicators that exist in every department and work group across our system to get messages to all 10,000 team members. Through a monthly web conference call, teams from across the region can gather information on current news and can also relay information back to the communications team and suggest future topics.
Dogwood Deals
Local businesses love Mission employees, and they want all of us to spend our dollars in Western North Carolina. It’s a sweet deal for them, and for us. We call these sweet deals "Dogwood Deals." But wait, there’s more! We’ve also negotiated some national discounts for things like mobile phone contracts, computers, vacation spots and more. We also facilitate onsite sales and discounts for local theme parks and historic attractions.
