We Have Too Many White People, said HR

Cons

In a meeting of hiring managers, HR announced that "we have too many white people". Engineering leadership then repeated this sentiment in a meeting of the whole department. I complained and was quickly fired.

Pros

Compensation, benefits, beautiful offices, lots of free food at offices that are still open. #1 - below C Suite and executive leadership - the people are great. They work hard, they are smart, and are trying hard to get the company to growth and profitability. The desktop product is an outstanding solution and customers love it. Trying to evolve to the cloud and a true platform.

Cons

You will only survive if you are a yes-man to the C Suite. One leader told me you never give an opinion before Mark or Paula - just agree with what they say if you want to survive here. Hundreds of people were laid off as "redundant" but Alteryx is already backfilling. Sales has unachievable goals, channels has their 4th or 5th leader in less than 6 years, and most of the marketing budget goes to McLaren leaving little room for real market awareness, demand generation and customer engagement. Evolution of cloud solution is very behind schedule.

Concerned about our Product org

Pros

Alteryx remains a great company with thousands of customers and a high retention rate. Our stock price continues to rise rapidly. We continue to bring on great talent and open offices across the globe. Overall, Alteryx is doing well and has a great set of customers and employees.

Cons

I am concerned about our Product org. In the last 6 months, we have lost 7 people from the Product org, which is a significant percentage of the org. While our head of Product attributes these departures solely to rapid growth, she needs to take accountability. I don’t think she realizes that she is a large part of the reason people are leaving. Based on numerous situations, people fear vocalizing their concerns or challenging her. I have a bad feeling even more people are going to leave.
