Pros

Generally a fun atmosphere with kids having a great time. Caring employees who work really hard despite the conditions.

Cons

The upper management really sucked to work for. They ran off so many GMs with ridiculous labor expectations then expected a perfectly clean store with great guest service. Well, ya can't have it both ways. Bonus plan was cut so badly that it was impossible to make money, they only paid out if you were building sales but expected labor to be lower year after year. How the hell do you build sales with a skeleton staff all the time?

Pros

Flexible schedules for Cast Member positions. If you are hourly your shift will end on time, no matter what. General Managers, not so much. 100% meal discount for management/trainers. Good salary, if you can negotiate it. Strong sense of team in the location.

Cons

Not enough hours allowed to meet the needs of the guest. No overtime, ever, no matter what. Extreme micro management. Inconsistent direction. No clear long term plan; let's throw things on the wall and see what sticks. Short term sales building mentality that erodes long term sales. CEO has no concept of actual operations. Senior management manages through fear and intimidation. Recently unattainable/unrealistic targets to bonus.

Used to be a great job

Pros

Your a door knob to door knob kinda tech. Your are responsible for maintaining almost everything in the building. From the electronics in the games to repairing holes in Sheetrock. If you apply yourself this job will teach you a lot of different skills. Plumbing, electronics, A/C D/C troubleshooting and repair, mechanical repairs, painting, and office work. Inventory of spare parts, ordering of repair and spare parts, maintaining a budget. You will be involved in installing new games and other equipment. Kitchen equipment preventive maintenance and some repairs to ovens, ice machines, dough rollers and mixers. Basically if it's broke it's your job to fix it or contact corporate to get some one who can. Your hands will get dirty with this job. You also get a working knowledge in pneumatics. Working on the characters from the air the the cosmetics. When allowed to do the actual job it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Cons

As a technician you are often pushed to help out in the operation side of the restaurant. Because staffing levels are so low and the staff that is there is either working so hard you feel the need to help out or they are to lazy to actually do their job and the guest experience suffers because of it. You are often the only employee in the front of house so naturally guests come to you for help with all kinds of issues. With this job comes mountains of digital paperwork and actual paperwork. It has gotten to the point that the paperwork is more important then the actual job of maintenance and repairs. Most of the store management is not the cream of the crop. There is a reason why most of them are paid so low. With that comes cleaning standards that are not met on a day to day basis. They have checklists to make sure everything gets done but they just check stuff off with out actually completing the task. it usually falls on the tech to get things done. The turn over is so high in the store management that the tech is usually the only one who knows anything about the building, how to clean something or fix a problem. You will get frustrated with the staff. Most of the guest complaints would never have happened if the staff had done their job in the first place. With the technician hours being 9 to 6 you are often left with doing major projects while the restaurant is open. This increases time because you have to stop and help guests. And anytime you leave the project you have to make it safe so that kids can't get hurt. Depending on how far you live from the location this means leaving early and getting home late because these hours mean you will be driving at peak traffic times.
