Not a Company to Work For if You're a Person of Color - Human Resources Goodyear Employee Review

Pros

The compensation isn't bad. The Corporate Headquarters is nice.

Cons

Nepotism is pervasive within Leadership. If you're not a part of the "Good Old Boys Club" then it's really difficult to move up. There is no African American Female representation in leadership. Out of 60,000 associates the highest ranking AA Female is a Manager. The company communicates that they are dedicated to diversity and change but there has been little to no action behind their words. Senior Leaders WITHIN HR have racially offensive pictures hanging on their walls. There is no Asian representation in leadership....not even in the Asia Pacific region. The CEO seems like he has good intentions and he's a nice guy but he has very poor leadership in his direct reports. The CHRO has consistently shown that he's only interested in promoting people he likes and not people who are most qualified. Leadership positions are rarely ever posted so associates can be given an equal opportunity to be considered for them. Most times they're given and have promoted non-people of color, that again, are in the "Good Old Boys" club.

Pros

A lot of good people who do genuinely care. Good pay and benefits.

Cons

Sadly Goodyear is a declining company. The new C-suite talked a big game but company performance speaks otherwise. Market share/volume is declining quarter over quarter and the stock price is being killed. Many long tenured and loyal Goodyear employees have been laid off due to job outsourcing or plan closures. Before taking a job at Goodyear make sure to do your own research on the future of the company. Sadly for such a long and storied brand the future does seem bleak. Death by a thousand cuts….
