Pros

I met and worked with some off the most amazing people of my career doing sometimes meaningful work, but it ended there…

Cons

Following their acquisition of Imperfect Foods they laid of nearly 20% of their employees. The severance package? One week of pay for every year worked which equated to the highest severance package only being four weeks since the company is only four years old, but it gets even worse. They laid off all of these employees three weeks before the holidays (with ZERO advance notice) and three weeks before bonuses would have been paid out. They were well aware that none of the laid off employees would be able to find work for at least several weeks given the holiday break, and it’s just sad to hear off other people being laid off at other companies and receiving three, four, even five months of severance. They’re all talk when it comes to “employee culture,” but at the end of the day the c-suite couldn’t care less about its employees who were the driving force behind their rapid growth. On top of that, day-to-day communication can be disjointed and there really isn't a clear direction that the company is going in.

Pros

Working at Misfits Market has been such a rewarding experience. One of the biggest pros is being part of a company that is constantly growing and open to trying new things. It’s exciting to know that your thoughts and ideas aren’t just heard but truly valued, and you feel like you can make an impact. There are so many opportunities for personal and professional growth, and leadership is genuinely invested in seeing you succeed. It’s rare to find a workplace where your potential is recognized and encouraged every step of the way, and Misfits Market delivers exactly that.

Cons

I wouldn’t necessarily consider this a con, but more of an adjustment: unless you work in the operations departments, most roles are fully remote. At first, it was a big change for me since I was used to seeing people in person throughout the week. Over time, though, I’ve really grown to love the flexibility and have found a routine and process that works well for me. For someone who thrives on face-to-face interaction or prefers an office environment, it may take some getting used to, but it can become a great fit once you settle into it.
