Pros
Human Resources has ample staff and one of the lowest leadership/employee ratios I have ever experienced (for example, one director level position has less than 15 people reporting to them). Resources are plentiful in terms of budget - in fact we were told to think of ways to spend money as there was quite a bit left that we needed to spend. Staff level workers in HR are good and hard working people ... very skilled and just waiting (and hoping) for the chance to one day be fully productive, engaged and appreciated.
Cons
In Human Resources, overall lack of vision, strategy, and a general constant climate of "hair on fire" emergencies. Alignment between the top leaders in HR is minimal which makes getting the right work done very difficult if not impossible. What could be a very good place to work (TVA in general) is ruined by childish Jr. High like behavior of the leadership team of HR. Many excellent people have come and gone from the HR team - and those that disappear do so without even as much as a goodbye or a choked thank you from leadership. Leaving those that remain, disengaged, frustrated, and without much hope for their respective futures.
