Pros

An energy company working on tech that helps mitigate the effects of climate change

Cons

A disrespectful "burn and churn" style bro culture. The parent company (Alarm.com) makes this worse. Senior leadership will openly insult ICs work and intelligence in meetings, but demand you treat senior leadership with respect. Overall it feels like a small castle, run by an absent king. I'm unsure what kind of person would do well here, probably someone with a military background.

Pros

Good benefits, flexible work environment, nice people who care about the mission. Work can be interesting.

Cons

Working with utilities can also be a pain, and EnergyHub’s owner, Alarm.com, doesn’t seem like a great steward. Lots of tech debt and a decent—though not unusual—amount of turnover. Can be hard to get things done.

Pros

Large majority of employees are collaborative, kind, and passionate about providing good customer service and climate action. Great benefits, location, work schedule flexibility. Culture of promoting from within.

Cons

Company doesn't walk the talk on climate values. Executives not open to differing opinions / debate and do not provide clear directions. Executives more interested in style / appearances than substance. Favoritism abounds and most new hires in 2025 were white men and bro culture abounds outside of HR and Client Success Managers departments. Salaries below market value. Entire company is run on slack and behaves like a start-up. People (including directors and senior managers) seem to depart unexpectedly with no notice or transition. Individuals are held to different standards in terms of work product and accountability based on their internal friends and managers.
