Pros

The individual contributors are undoubtedly talented and dedicated. The benefits package is industry average, and include subscriptions for mental wellness apps.

Cons

As a former employee, I feel compelled to share my experience with the public. While my time at the company was filled with meaningful interactions with my fellow individual contributors, the overarching atmosphere cultivated by the executive team was regrettably toxic. The leadership often displayed traits of narcissism and an inability to handle dissenting opinions, creating an environment where any form of disagreement was met with animosity and a target on one's back. Several of my former colleagues, also affected by the layoffs, expressed this same sentiment. Furthermore, the organization's frequent rounds of layoffs created an atmosphere of instability and fear among the employees. The purported value placed on employee well-being and mental health seemed insincere, especially when remote employees were mandated to return to the office under the guise of "collaboration." This move appeared to be a thinly veiled tactic for further layoffs, rather than a genuine effort to foster teamwork and innovation. It can’t be a coincidence that the return to office mandate went into effect within a day of one of the major layoffs. While the individual contributors are undoubtedly talented and dedicated, the relentless workload and the constant fear of disrupting the status quo led to soul-crushing anxiety for many of us. It's disheartening that such a promising company is marred by a culture that stifles creativity and disregards the well-being of its employees. It is my hope that by sharing this review, potential employees and stakeholders will be aware of the toxic work environment and can make informed decisions about their involvement with the organization.

Pros

No pros, after the third layoff in three years you’re better off working at McDonalds. The CEO also lied to everyone’s face after the last round saying they left for other “other opportunities”. Is that what we call it when you pay severance and tell them they’re laid off? Oh okay! This company is quite literally demonic. They are moving to contractors only so they don’t have to pay benefits.

Cons

Micromanagement, No growth opportunities ,Awful compensation. Somehow EverlyWell bought a failing company and had the bright idea to promote all of those leaders who run off of outdated models of micromanaging and intimidation. They are questioning how this company is now failing when they backed the failures. This is the most toxic place I have ever worked. Do yourself a favor and look for a job literally anywhere else. Also- if you’re a minority they will treat you horribly only to parade you around as the token person for DEI presentations

Pros

- Truly poised to impact a broken health care system - Has attracted a lot of strong individual contributors to drive the company forward, and they've been great to learn from - Leadership team can plan and communicate strategic objectives, which is lacking at other small companies

Cons

- The company looks incredible to everyone who doesn't have to work to build the features that power the business. - Strong engineering and product talent have jumped ship. "Underperforming, disgruntled employees" were seriously talented people who were tired of deadline-driven leadership that don't seem to accept why you wouldn't work all night to meet a target date or why building something takes as long as it does. - A scrum process was built, which gave engineering and product a healthy rhythm they thrived in, and then it was dismantled by Product & Engineering leadership due to feature-work taking too long and we're back to deadline-driven work.

Thanks for your feedback on our workloads and tech processes. We went through this review with the Product Development team because there are a lot of good points here, which I wanted to make sure we acknowledged and talked about together. The consensus was that you are correct - due to an explosion of interest in home health tests during the pandemic, we have asked our teams to do too much in too little time. We’ve all been working around the clock to help people stay healthy during the pandemic, which can be a recipe for burnout and too-high workloads. The good news is our People team is one of those teams working overtime to make things better. We have hired dozens of people in a matter of months and are doubling the size of our tech teams to get our employees the help they need. While it is difficult to recruit and interview at this pace while managing our teams effectively, we believe we’ll be in a much better place in a few weeks. In some ways, we already are. I hope you have seen that we take your concerns very seriously and we've backed these words with real action. Either way, I really want to encourage you to engage in a conversation with your manager or someone here in tech leadership about your valid concerns. We also maintain an anonymous hotline for employee concerns via Lighthouse Services. Please ask HR for the info if you don’t already have it. Our growth has fueled tremendous demand for our products and services and that pressure, while a good one to have, can be really challenging to navigate. Thanks again for your feedback as we strive to get better. Stace - EVP of Talent & People Operations
