Pros

Good upward mobility, company culture is great. The company is very transparent with all employees. Still a smaller company, so very tight-knit.

Cons

Nothing I can think of honestly.

Growing and Engaged Firm

Pros

H+O provides opportunities for engineers at all levels of their career to advance their technical knowledge, leadership, and project management. The firm encourages engagement and high-level coordination with clients. Also, the firm continues to seek out clients with similar values, allowing for real professional relationships to develop. Internally, employees are understood to be a critical part of the firm's growth and work as a team to improve all facets of the job.

Cons

Similar to most Structural Engineering Firms, the work environment is fast paced and can be demanding if personal time management skills and self-motivation are lacking.

Pros

They provide an excellent setup so that you can preform your work remotely. Good training and great resources/procedures for reference to make things more efficient (most importantly they encourage questions and promote good training and collaboration!). H+O does well at creating standard operating procedures so that everyone is on the same page. Up to date with the most current software and industry standards.

Cons

You may abruptly get requests to complete tasks that need to be done quickly (time sensitive). This can cause a heavy shift in your anticipated work schedule. Feed back is given on a task basis, so at times you may feel unaware of your "overall" performance (this could also be due to the nature of remote work/remote communication). I have never had a negative response to my overall performance but I recommend getting on the phone and asking how you are preforming from an overall standpoint. This will help with potential misinterpretation of emails and unnecessary discomfort. Overall I feel H+O is a great employer!
