Pros

I have had the pleasure and honor of working for Live Your Message (LYM) since December 2020 as it's fractional CFO. I've been treated with nothing but respect since I started and have enjoyed my tenure. I came on for a 3 month contract to clean up it's system and then stayed because I love the message and the people who work on the team. LYM provides so much powerful and useful content to its students. I've watched repeatedly how it OVER-DELIVERS on its promises and ensures the success of the people who do the work in our programs. I've read on Glassdoor on the challenges that some other team members have faced with Marisa, our CEO. I do not wish to diminish their experiences but offer my own experience. Marisa is a straight-shooter who works hard and sets a high standard for our team. I wish to achieve mastery in all aspects of my craft, and this level of excellence will allow me to work hard to meet this standard. It has not always been easy, my ego has been touched more than a few times, and I continue to appreciate the standard set by a powerful woman leader.

Cons

The leadership team requires a high level of workmanship, and for some who do not like demanding environments, this is not the right place.

Pros

I was looking for an environment where I could expand and grow in my career, master my craft and be rewarded with more responsibility and bigger opportunities. That's exactly what I got at Live Your Message. It's an environment where excellence actually matters, which I love. They really want to grow their people, and massively invest in providing direct, constructive & positive coaching to every team member, so you can see how to actually get better at your job, and get to the next level of your abilities. This feedback is always shared in private with my supervisor, NEVER publicly as someone suggested here (I've literally never seen that happen.) LYM is focused on excellence and growth, which is super-exciting to me personally. While I feel like I'm at the top of my game, and I know that there's so much more I'm capable of. It's a very goals-focused company, which I love because I can see exactly how to win in my job. I know my metrics, and I know how I'm going to get there. If I ever need more resources, they're provided to me immediately. If I ever need coaching or advice from my supervisor, I can get it pretty much right away. Bottom line, this company wants its employees to succeed and in contrast to other companies I've worked for, actually invests in making it happen. They offer unlimited time off, as long as you're meeting the targets that you and your supervisor mutually agree on. On the flipside, another thing I love is how much this company cares about its customers. They recently invested over $50K into an AI-powered tool to help their students be more successful. They didn't have to do that, but the fact they did speaks volumes about why they're doing this.

Cons

If you want a job where you can coast, hide, or get away with the bare minimum, this environment won't be for you. You're constantly challenged to lift your game here. If you'e comfortable being mediocre at what you do, this environment won't be for you. Not a con in my book, but it might be for some. And if you can't handle direct, candid and constructive feedback on your work immediately so you can understand exactly what's needed from you to excel in your role, this company isn't for you either. The folks who didn't last here (and presumably who left bad reviews) were shocked to receive feedback that they could do better. I welcome it. It's the only way to grow. So if the idea of excellence and growth isn't at all exciting to you personally, I'd avoid.

Pros

Live Your Message is a progressive, authentic and transparent business coaching organization. This industry space can seem a bit loud and crowded, but the true masters of this art sit at a very small table, and Marisa is at the head. She truly is amazing at what she does and we see the results of that effort in our students every day. I have worked with Marisa for almost 4 years and it's incredible to work with a visionary who not only prioritizes her students but also her employees. Do things get nuts sometimes? Of course, but that's when the magic happens. Marisa has created training for mission-centered entrepreneurs that supports them at every stage of their business growth and does that in a container of authenticity and visibility. The amount of care/time/resources spent on the student experience is like nothing else I have seen in this industry. That spills over into the employee experience as well. It takes a certain type of professional to thrive in this environment. You need to be flexible, creative, assertive, hard working and at the top of your game daily. This is a remote company, but it doesn't feel that way. I have been in sales for 32 years across a variety of industries, so I have the experience to back this up when I say that Live Your Message and Marisa are the real deal and they make a real impact every single day for our students as well as our team. You will always have the opportunity to grow, contribute, learn and yes, even make a mistake knowing that you are a valued and respected member of our team. Pay, benefits, time off, work/life balance are all great and I've never felt that I needed to put my job before my life.

Cons

I don't personally think these are cons but if you do, we're probably not a fit for each other. - If you want to punch a clock and have a scheduled 30 minute lunch and 2 15 minute breaks, go work at a call center. - If you have thin skin and can't take constructive feedback, go elsewhere. - If you want to do the same thing every single day, all day for your hourly pay, this isn't for you. - If you're not able to think on your feet and pivot in the moment, LYM isn't the right place for you. - If only want to pass time at your job daily and aren't concerned with company results, maybe try retail. - If you take negative reviews from disgruntled former employees seriously and don't make this type of decision on your own, that's on you and you will miss out on a great opportunity.
