No work life balance, expect to work 60+ works even when it is not holiday season

You have to work nights and weekends, and holidays You get taken advantage of constantly and no one wants to help you reach your goals. They just want you to go where they need you. No matter how hard you try it's never good enough. Even if they love you, you will never be rewarded for it. The pay increases are laughable. My first raise was actually a pay decrease from the previous year because in my first year I had a signing bonus that the increase came nowhere close to covering. My manager's response was "that's retail". Essentially that means they were telling me I'm in the wrong business if I want to have a successful career. Macy's is a dying company. Closing more stores each year and cutting staff every year. You work with limited resources to do your job effectively and they expect you to produce miracles. You are set up for failure.
