Pros

I met and worked with some off the most amazing people of my career doing sometimes meaningful work, but it ended there…

Cons

Following their acquisition of Imperfect Foods they laid of nearly 20% of their employees. The severance package? One week of pay for every year worked which equated to the highest severance package only being four weeks since the company is only four years old, but it gets even worse. They laid off all of these employees three weeks before the holidays (with ZERO advance notice) and three weeks before bonuses would have been paid out. They were well aware that none of the laid off employees would be able to find work for at least several weeks given the holiday break, and it’s just sad to hear off other people being laid off at other companies and receiving three, four, even five months of severance. They’re all talk when it comes to “employee culture,” but at the end of the day the c-suite couldn’t care less about its employees who were the driving force behind their rapid growth. On top of that, day-to-day communication can be disjointed and there really isn't a clear direction that the company is going in.

Awful leadership

Pros

- I got to work and learn from some very talented and wonderful peers who truly care about the mission

Cons

- Top leadership does not care about feedback or employee's opinions - Leadership gives 0 thought to employee retention. Talent is bleeding out - Horrible benefit package - No transparency in the company - every slack channel is private and you cant post anything in company-wide channels. Information silos everywhere - HR department is a joke - could not finalize holiday calendar for 4 months and gives notice about holidays with days before the date - Leadership creates top down constant and often false sense of urgency. Everything needs to be done on some arbitrary deadline, which no one has any input on / knows how it's established - Massive amount of tech debt and more mounting up constantly - Very shortsighted decisions from leadership that only care about cutting costs, no vision for the future or how the cost cutting will affect the company in the long run - Imperfect Foods acquisition handled in the most awful way; real talent let go with no input from managers - Mission tagline gets thrown around with absolutely no actions to back it up - The CEO admitted that cost cutting is the number one priority and gives absolutely no thought to retaining talent

Surprised, in a negative way

Pros

Being realistic...the pay was fine and the benefits were improving.

Cons

After Misfits Market acquired Imperfect Foods, things got bad really fast. Great leaders either left or were let go. A sizable layoff happened right before Christmas. The culture was shook, hard, especially on the engineering team.
